This strip is becoming “As the Luann Turns.” I’m not sure it’s worth following anymore. Once they take the characters out of high school, strips of this sort lose all meaning (see “Funky Winkerbean”).

I think that Luann will be satisfied that Quill will make some quality time for them to be together. Maybe Frank & Nancy will host a New Year’s Eve party for L & Q and T & B?

The awfulness of the Luann/Quill ‘romance’ makes me long for the sweet release of DEATH. Quill’s an empty cipher, Luann has turned into a complete (fill in blank), and their ‘lines’ to each other are nauseatingly sappy and maudlin. Seriously, about to drop this strip very soon unless Quill catches koala pox and dies horribly. At least that would make me laugh.

Oh, that Quill! Such a tease!(Up to now, it’s pretty much always been Luann to take or suggest the first step. The boy’s learning from her…. Of course, in the light of her behavior this week, her final remark is at least a bit ironic.)

Notice how the cartoon only shows Lu and Quill from the waist up. There’s a reason for that.. OtherwiseLuann would be saying, “why Quill, I didn’t know you were packing a pistol?”

Sorry to be repetitive, redundant, and all, but that greenery really upsets me.* If this strip is set where it’s green and growing in mid-December, that snow globe makes absolutely no sense as a present. Ok, ok, it never snows in Southern California. But even there it’s not all green all winter. And that snow globe would have us think she lives in a climate where there is snow. But Luann apparently doesn’t. *Not to be repetitive or anything. But it’s been a long, taxing week— four days of work plus putting together a huge celebration for mid-week. Not that I’m needy or whiny or anything. But that greenery really upsets me.*You learn as an adult, celebrations don’t just happen.

And, Quill, you were brought up better than that!

How do you not turn it into a sex joke?

This strip does not have to end when they graduate; look at For Better Or Worse. The kids graduated from college, worked, had careers, relationships, married, had kids and ad finim….still read it daily. So did Gasoline Alley, my favorite strip. Limiting this strip is not necessary—let it grow..it will be the better for it. Who wants to stay in school for life.

I’m confused too. It’s like the trees aren’t real. But that would imply that none of this is real, and that Luann and Quill are just figments of somebody’s imagination.

Quill makes the comment in public, where Luann can’t grab anything. I wonder if he would make the same comment in private with her. And I think she has already grabbed the body parts she wants.

Several of the characters are going to stay in town after H.S. — Gunther, Bernice, and Quill will end up at Moony Uni. Luann will be nearby at the Community College. Knute won’t go far. Tiffany will try to go to Hollywood but will bomb out and end up back home…

Elementary my dear howtheduck. In the first panel they are standing on a gravel path in the park. Judging by their shadows on the path, the panel view is to the north-west and the sun is setting to the left, so our view is toward the sun and their silhouettes appear dark.

Get a raincheck on that one, Luann – not something you want to pass up, but maybe the time isn’t quite right …
