Gunther's mom: "You've been through a lot, Honey. Rosa changed you. Peru changed you. I've changed some, too. We're both growing and that's good - even if its difficult" Gunther's mom: "But one thing hasn't changed and never will; I love you, Gunther. I'll always be your mother and we'll always have each other. Nothing can change that" "Door bell"

Wonderful mother/son conversation. Now let’s just pray Gunther gets along with Mr. Grey who would happen to be at the door.
JayBluE over 9 years ago
A raised eyebrow. A doorbell. Put them together, and what do you have? Don’t know, till you answer the door… – Could it be an "indicator of ‘one more change’ "? Could it be just “Oh, that’s right. We’re expecting company!”. Could Mrs. B have seen a platonic relationship where Mr. G sees something else? Will he at least save a slice of pie for someone else? Will these sweet moments become soured by the arrival of a semi-welcome, friendly stranger? – We’ve seen Gunther “going through changes”. Wonder if we’d get to see the strides that Mrs. B has made…

Mr. Gray’s Anatomy has arrived. Gunther doesn’t like it.

“We’ll always have each other.” But will they always live with each other? That seems critical to Gunther’s “life plan”.
JayBluE over 9 years ago
Echoes of Helen Reddy’s “You And Me Against The World” could probably swirl around in the background during that touching moment. – Hopefully that doorbell won’t turn into a “scratch of the needle”….

Good tension here today….who will it be?Hey! It’s Tiffany! Coming over to talk to Gunthy about homework help!

It’s Mr. Gray’s father, telling him that they have to go back to Australia this very instant. Mrs. Berger’s virtue is spared!
JayBluE over 9 years ago
If it is somebody else at the door, wonder if Mr. Gray will be mad that someone took his plate of spaghetti?

Sofia’s at the door. The server has crashed, and Gunther didn’t tell them the super-user password to reboot it.or,Rosa’s at the door. “Gunther, I need you! Come back! Do you know how many sticks there are in Peru, and how much gravel?”
beggar over 9 years ago
“Now before I answer the door, you should probably know that Mr. Gray asked me to move in with him. In Alaska. We’re leaving tomorrow. I’ll be back here every other month to visit. There are frozen meals I made for you in the freezer.”
wiselad over 9 years ago
by her eyes, if it is Mr Gray, he came sooner than expected, might be a big surprise as in Rosa or might be Q that forgot his keys, tune in for tomorrow’s episode of “for whom the ring bells”

Let’s play What If….:What if the person at the door is not Mr. Gray but rather a lawyer who announces that, due a technicality, the adoption of Gunther has been ruled invalid, meaning he is not Mrs. Berger’s son any longer?!Now, that’s irony!
edge2edge over 9 years ago
Who is at the door? Mr. Grey, Rosa or even Tiff…The suspense is killing me.
ACTIVIST1234 over 9 years ago
“Never will I love you.”?*The sentiment is understood, but was this a Freudian slip?

In this case, “Nothing can ever change that” sorta sounds like “what could possibly go wrong?”

This is a really awkward time for Mr. Berger finally to show up and try to re-unite with Mrs. B.

This is the only woman he is really comfortable touching, kind of sweet, but kind of sick that he will never love another woman like he loves his mommy.

I’ll be seeing Greg Evans in a few months – I wonder if it’s possible to compile a “best of” from the comments of the past calendar year. The “worst of” would be an unimaginably competitive array of submissions, ranging from mostest snarkiest to uber duperest. Where to begin?

I can’t figure out why we have no way to transport all the excess snow that Boston and points north have, to California. If we (unsafely) transport flammable oil in trains that derail in West Virginia and burn people out of their homes, there must be a way to transport excess snow in refrigerated rail cars (I think they do that with milk, after all…)

First saw Mr. Eclar on “Dark Shadows” then later others like “McGiver” and “The Invaders.”
I have seen him in a number of things, but his most memorable thing for me was the Russian space Administrator in “2010 – Oddesy II” that, at the beginning, approached Dr. Heywood Floyd (Roy Scheider) about the mission.
“You are a smart man Dr. Floyd… You will know what to do…”

The desalination plant is not operating?!?! What is the actual reason? Is it perceived as still being too costly? Too small? Not really functional? I remember all the big media play about it during construction…. I always presumed it was simply functioning.

There’s a desal plant operating here in Florida, serving the Tampa area. When EPA permitted it, environmental groups sued, because the waste from the plant (high concentrate saline, among other chemicals) was permitted to be discharged back to the Bay. But as far as I know, that plant did go live and is operating.-Florida is heavily dependent on groundwater, which contributes to sinkhole problems. Worse, growth has put strong demand on water. The state has mandated that the water management districts (regional agencies) plan for ‘alternative water sources’.-The County where I live got permission to treat water from the St. John’s River, and a bunch of environmentalists and the City of Jacksonville sued. They lost, because the amount allowed our county is very small. (And the hypocrisy of Jacksonville was amazing, consider how much pollution they dump into that river.)-I guess water ‘wars’ are alive and well all over the US…

OH, BEFORE I FORGET: SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Gunther’s pained expression makes my wince as much as the amazing words of his Mom in the last frame…

Were they objecting to the particular area chosen for the storage, or just to the concept of storage? Because you can create water storage in a number of ways (including elevated water towers.) It’s not always necessary to flood a natural area…
