Welcome back, Ox! You’re looking good. Learn to fight— then choose not to.

Maybe this will be Team Evans effort to teach us ALL how to deal with bullies. And maybe we will learn techniques of de-escalation.

Les is more than just a “bully”, he’s committed serial sexual battery (and I’d suspect more than that by now) and the Pitts high school administration let him get away with both types of assault and intimidation. I’ll be interested to see whether he’s served any time or had any run-in’s with the police since he left school.

I wouldn’t count on Ox allowing Les to bully him now…I believe that Ox is like most quiet, gentle people (or me anyway). You can push them only so far and then you find out that you have poked the beast once too many. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.

7The “burning” questions I have:1. Will Les be the “same old annoyance” or will he be “reformed” in some way? 2. Will Les’s character somehow reveal to us more about the backstory of Mr. Gray? 3. Ox is still underage (being of the same graduation class as Tiffany, Luann and that crew), so I am wondering if CA laws are ok with him working in the bar, or if not, will his employment may be short lived? ***********************It is good to see Ox back again. I do agree with some commenters that his “Am that.” statement is within the boundaries of common vernacular, but I also see how it tends to make Ox appear more “uneducated” than I think is real for his character. So, I see both sides I guess and am on the fence. But, Ox is a student at Moony, so he would very logically be more capable of full speech, and so I hope that perhaps Greg will use this opportunity to give us a more complete picture of Ox as well in terms of his interests and his goals. I am not fully remembering what we know of Ox and his activities at Moony. Did Greg ever mention a) if he was on some sort of scholarship (perhaps athletic (such as football)) or b) did he ever mention anything about his major? I do not recall either being mentioned, but I am not sure.

The alternative term is “teddy bear”. Maybe someone who has the ear of the artist might suggest that, so all of those who are so concerned about this issue can be less ‘worried’…

So based on the way the table has been set today, I’m expecting to see a ‘reformed’ Les eventually show he hasn’t really changed his spots when his natural arrogance will have him harassing Pru — A female who doesn’t ‘really “want it”’ (Especially from him)? No such thing. — and Pru, Ox, Mr. Grey, or all three shutting him down cold and sending him on his way with a flea in his ear. We shall see.

We may soon find out the true power of Pru.

Oxford is a gentle man (“pussycat”) but not at all a coward. He has a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong, and if he sees a bully threatening someone with physical harm, he can and will intervene.It were better for Les to reform himself than force Oxford to do it for him….

Sisyphos was prescient when he said this in the comments four yeara ago about ox …..Sisyphos said, about 4 years agoOx knows his shortcomings, and that makes him wise. With Gunther’s help in this newly-founded friendship, he can become smart as well. I think we’ll see a lot more of Ox as time goes by….

You know I got so much into the etiology of tomcat, pussy, and pussycat I totally missed the meaning of the third panel. I apologize, and I am embarrassed. That being said, I still make the same point about Les, which is has he changed from being a bully to being a better person. But no looking at the panel more carefully I realize that TJ is commenting on Ox’s being a pussycat, which changes the meaning of the word 360 degrees. OOPS!! I think he meant that Ox is a nice, gentle person, who would not bully or harm anyone, unless he felt the need to intervene in a situation. So I apologize to the bloggers I responded to, particularly Nemrepus. I still think my analysis of the character was correct, but my use of the word was wrong in the context of what the strip was trying to say. Now let me slink off back to the real world.

Well if anyone knows how to be a sketchy employee, it’s TJ! Let’s see TJ’s worminess in full effect—he just might make Gunther look likable by comparison. (Not by much, but still.)

Did you see the interview with the teenage girl recovering from the Uber shooter attack who has startled everyone with her friendly, constructive stubborness toward more and more healing? She referred to herself as a “Warrior Princess”. If that show gives the kid strength then in that alone it has more than proven its worth.
