Uh, Oh. I’m getting Bad Vibes of that DUD of a New York Trip these two went on 3 years ago. And if what Lu has planned turns out like THAT, they be better off working!

On the other hand, Luann has got a point. It’s past time the Young Folks in this Strip made plans to have FUN. But, with Bernice having NO job and Luann having two jobs plus needing to pay her car insurance, one wonders where the money is coming from. Unless they go the “Tiffany Credit Card” route.

Speaking of Tiffany, wouldn’t it be WILD if Tiffany talked herself in accompanying them on whatever hairbrained scheme Luann comes up with? ;)

Borenice has had such a Boring time that she remembers stuff Luann does not even remember saying so long ago.

This has turned into a week of Sunday strips!

Bernice is kinda of a buzz-kill.

Since 5th grade? That would have been when … 1985?

So, why is this the “last chance” to cut loose? Nobody is graduating soon…if ever… Maybe Luann is about to have an epiphany about her career choice! (Naw!!)

Bernice is such a downer.

Next year, Luann will have the same idea that it will be their last summer to do something amazing.

They could do the Viva® demonstration. Luann can use Viva and Bernice can use the other leading paper towel.

Bernice: “We’ve had this same discussion every summer since the 5th grade.”

Luann, silent for several seconds…..then in a low, calm voice: “………………………………….So should we finally do it before we start collecting Social Security, Miss Procrastination?”

Good to see Bernice and Luann together again.

And since 5th grade Luann was totally right to propose you such a thing!!!It’s time from Luann and Bernice to do more adventures together! Or it’s time for Luann to start propose these things to Tara, Pru and Dez, who would probably be happy to accept…. I kinda want to see the the Drama of jealousy and anger that Bernice would do at that point.

I subscribe to the Dallas Morning News on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I looked at the comics in the paper this morning before checking all of the ones I look at online. In today’s DMN, the second panel reads “last chance to cut lose”. Greg must have used spell check after the fact.

Is Bernice really a good friend or are they just together due to nostalgia?

Luann should FORGET taking Bernice or any other female, on whatever she’s planning here.

Lu SHOULD break tradition and instead of Bernice, invite a Guy to go along with her, this time. Someone she, and just about every Gal in the Strip TRUSTS, perhaps.

the thing is, her definition of cutting loose is actually leaving the house every day durning the summer. Doesn’t mean she is doing something. but just leaving the house..

at least her hair is back to the right color!

Ah, the Thelma and Louise plot line

First trip without my folks to Boston for a Red Sox game. Back when Boston had the red light district. Yeah, THAT was an education! The drinking age in Mass. was 18. Four guys from Southern Maine, a ’68 New Yorker with a killer 8-Track (remember those?) Endless beer, live sex, the Red Sox beat the Orioles, yeah…good times. Then came the eighties, college and adulthood.

So this has been the transition week leading up to Memorial Day. A one-off gag with two nerds, two strips to line up Tiffany for summer school and waitressing, and three days of “O-M-G! It’s summer and we’re both gonna be bored! AGAIN!!!”

I just hope Greg has made better plans for the summer episodes then our two lackluster girls. :o(

Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it’s wrong…or right.

If they truly want a road trip with excitement and adventure they should take TARA along with them. Tiffany needs to stay home and take those business classes and earn some tips at The Fuse. Her summer will be different enough as it is.

… which, given the way “Luann time” works, means they’ve had this conversation about 40 times.

At sea right now so this internet time is EXPENSIVE!!! but I frankly like the old debate about what to do Summers. They are still in school, not on their own, so they are still on that schedule. When they move to being on their own it will be normal, independent adult life. Enjoy the current HE, that is part of the scthick of this strip, the characters age and slowly go through stages of life.

Love Bernice’s snark because it is true. Just because it is true doesn’t make it offensive….just true. Now that they’re older and don’t need parental permission to travel, they ought to truly plan a trip. Doesn’t have to be a fancy trip to NYC or D.C….camping is fun. Rafting is fun. Hiking is fun. Visiting a museum is fun. Going to the beach is fun. So many choices.

Yawn. Same old thing. Work those summer jobs. If you have some free time, take a hike in the national forest or go to the lake.

Wow – Bernice apparently has all of Greg’s Luann books. The box Luann is carrying says, “Books by Greg”. If they have a pretty comprehensive collection in there, they can look back to see what they have done the last 34 years and do something else.

maybe they’ll have a weekend trip to somewhere…

Now, regarding this latest arc, I must remember that Greg thinks of Luann as his real daughter. The same goes for her best friend, Bernice. Therefore, you have two well scrubbed little virgins with no makeup or jewelry or tight, suggestive clothes. That’s okay, this formula has worked for Greg for a long time, so I will continue to enjoy the good drawing and Keystone Kops adventures and just hope that someday Tiffany loses 10 pounds and gets a job as a exotic dancer.

Luann is stuck in a hopeless Time Warp. And Bernie is zero help….
