Nothing wrong with a little forest management.

He must be from Finland because we all know that they like to rake their forests, so why not the greens of a golf course.

wondering if it would be easier to dig a hole where the ball lands on the green, rather than raking a lot of leaves?

I’d say it’s a grey area… or in this case, a green area.

Actually, the Rules do state that you can remove detached leaves (and other “loose impediments” – natural objects, like twigs or stones or squirrels), unless the impediments and the ball are both in the same hazard (such as a sand trap). It makes no limitation on how many leaves you are allowed to move. And if your ball is on the putting green, you don’t even incur a penalty if moving the leaves causes the ball to move (on any other part of the course, you incur a 1 stroke penalty). You simply have to replace the ball where it was.

Someone must be a New England Patriots fan. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowplow_Game for why there’s a rule against that kind of thing in pro football now. There wasn’t then. There’s no rule against it in golf now. I’m sure that if someone does something like this in a serious game, there will be. After the fact, so the victory will stand, the way the Pats’ victory stood in 1982. I saw the Snowplow Game live; I thought that the heat from Don Shula’s rage would melt all the snow and ice.

Must be Eldrick as the rules of golf don’t apply to him. Witness his double hit yesterday that went unpunished.

Wouldn’t it be easier just to drive the cart onto the green and make a rut for the ball to roll in

If you’re not winning, change the rules: the motto of banks, insurance companies and the North Carolina State legislature.

Whereas removing trash from the path of your ball is probably legal, creating a barrier to keep your ball from going too far beyond the hole, should you miss, is probably illegal. And then there’s the side walls he created that might deflect his ball back towards the hole. Yeah, this is probably illegal.

This is a funny strip today – as comics go. In reality, though, any decent golf course will not have anything on the course. the Greens-keeper takes care of all of that.

The problem isn’t the lane, it’s the little ramp on the other side of the hole.

Often times in humor, in this case the final panel, is what it is. It’s not nefarious or partition it’s just a joke, gag or punchline. We’ve become too literal in our lives and take things too seriously. Even Wiley enjoys a day off.
