Time to take a big risk and leave the path altogether. Just watch out for the Wiley Bears.

I like hiking on a loop trail: At no point (except the trailhead) is this sign appropriate. Sometimes, though there’s a trail to the start of the loop. I call that a lollipop trail. And it’s better than an out and back trail.

PS: It’s often better to go the same direction around the loop as the other hikers: That way you aren’t passing or being passed so often. On the other hand, I kind of like to go once one way, then the other way the next time: Vistas are different, depending on which way you’re walking.

There are no more paths less traveled. They were all paved over for strip malls.

yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there’s still time to change the road you’re on.

It assumes you don’t want to hike the same trail twice. Now, philosophically, Heraclitus said you can’t anyway. Metaphorically, I’d like a return to something resembling familiar/normal after the last four years.

It has been my experience that the ’path less traveled" is less traveled for a reason. Usually, a good one.

I am immediately thinking of all the people who go on international cruises to see “strange places”, which are no longer strange because of the millions of people who have come from other lands to see them, yet insist on the “comforts” of home. I hope these folks have found a way to engage meaningfully with their home-town communities during this pandemic. Service can be more rewarding that hedonistic travel.
