A couple of wheelie bins along with the “recycling forms” would have been a nice touch – you know to put your stuff, or whatever is left, in it. Help save the lawyers fees.
The comedian Wanda Sykes once asked her grandmother if she ever contemplated divorce. Her grandmother replied that she never considered divorce. Murder? Oh, yes.
I married at 21. We’ve been married for 45 years. Hopefully, many more years to go. We’ve made it through some rough spots and it is all roses and arthritis now.
In a similar vein, there was a Star Trek novel by JM Dilliard back in the 80s where Spock’s uncle mused about how averse humans were to talking about death, to the point where we have to create euphemisms: “He wondered how one might literally ‘lose’ one’s wife—misplace her, perhaps.”
One time when I was on jury duty, they announced over the P.A., “If you are getting married in the next six months and still need to pick up a license, it’s Room 23. If you are planning to file for divorce, it’s Room 31.”

But is it accurate? I guess it kind of depends on how many of them take another shot at a licensed marriage.

My bride of 62 years recycles me, figuratively speaking, every two or three years. That’s why we’ve lasted this long

Other than a big showy, expensive wedding ceremony, what, EXACTLY, is the point of marriage in this contemporary day and age???????

Didn’t know that one has to fill out a form for a divorce. I thought you would just retain a lawyer and they would file all the paperwork needed.

I was fortunate to have an amicable divorce and we both, years later, “recycled” into long marriages.

I married at 26, and wondered why the hell so soon. We were 4 couples, all on our ‘starter’ marriages. None of them survived.

Recycling forms? Re-marrying seems like the triumph of hope over experience. Not that I’d know, of course.
