Had a 65# dog that we let sleep in our bed with us once. Several times during the night he would “rearrange” himself by standing up and then dropping down like a ton of bricks, always having to make sure he was touching us.
Thay dog’s imitating a cat. Sleep right on top of you so the spot where the cat is gets too warm, causing the rest of you to feel cold by contrast. Not the most pleasant middle-of-the-night wake up.

This dog is like a gas, it expands to fill the space that’s available to it.

My dog sometimes will climb in my bed in the morning. Just at my feet. Gives me an excuse to sleep in. Don’t want to disturb her….

Typical cat. And the same cat will squeeze herself tight to fit in a small box.

I used to have a dog that I swear drew mental diagonal lines on the bed so she knew exactly where the middle was to plop down.

My wife lets our Lab sleep in the King Bed. The Lab has her own pillow, blanket and toys to sleep with. You guessed it, I sleep elsewhere.

Typical cat antics.

One day when our big male cat was sprawled out full length on the bed, I took out a measuring tape. He is 35" from nose tip to tail tip.

Sounds very familiar to me. My family and I once had a Chihuahua that took up most of my parents’ California King-sized bed

When I have the dog to myself she likes to sleep right in the middle and has to lay against me.

It is my experience that a dog, or a cat for that matter, will expand to take up all available space.

Slinky Dog? Also reason #294 why I don’t have a pet.
