When I was a little kid a roundish big rock in a nearby park that I could climb on top of served as my rocket ship, but my fantasy life came via “Captain Video.”
I’ve always liked Jerry Seinfeld’s bit: “Star Trek really was the ultimate male fantasy. Just hurtling through space in your living room watching TV. That’s why all the aliens were always dropping in because Kirk was the only one who had a big screen. They came over Friday night for Klingon boxing, gotta be there.”
So, it seems that the 2007 ComicCon issued some “Wacky Wobblers” featuring Snoopy as Kirk and Woodstock as Woodspock. http://filmjunk.com/images/weblog/2009/07/treknobabble72.jpg
Is this legit? I don’t remember it—-I have every volume of the big Fantagraphics reprint project—-and with a reference like this, I would think I would. Unless I’ve suppressed the memory of it.
I distinctly remember when this cartoon was first published in 1972. I was a high school senior and a huge Star Trek fan from when it was originally broadcast 1966-1969. I remember seeing this in the newspaper and then running through the halls of my high school because I was so excited to share it with my friends. I also remember eagerly waiting to see if this was the first of a series of cartoons about Star Trek because this was published on a Monday, only to be disappointed when it turned out to be a one-off.

I don’t know why I always expect the sides of Snoopy’s dog house to be white.

Who knew Schulz was a fan of Roddenberry?

Charlie Brown can take a few pointers from Snoopy about positive thinking.

February 7, 1972. Schulz must have been watching the syndicated reruns (Star Trek was canceled in 1969).

In one week, two “Peanuts” comics that I don’t think I’ve ever seen. I thought I had seen (nearly) all of them!

I didn’t finish to watch the first season of the show because… is not as interesting as it sounded, it looks I’m more the Star Wars type.
