Somehow, I feel Alfred Yankovic’s “Canadian Idiot” (parody of Green Day’s “American Idiot”) coming on.

When he said “Montreal” and “Mount Royal” in the first panel I was bracing for a pun… and then where’d it go?

Mount Royal is a place in Montreal. So, naming the two together is hardly a good setup for a pun. (Especially since the city is named for the hill.)

I wonder if he’ll like it with extra bacon.

Poutine sounds like the original New Orleans po-boy: french fries and gravy on french bread. Meat & cheese on po-boys came later.

Stephen got ambitious to draw the Canadiens home jersey. Bet he never wants to that again.

I was born and raised in Montreal and still going a couple of times a year. Schwartz’s Deli is the place to go for the best smoked meat sandwich. Too many people there? Just walk across the street to Main Deli.

You can get Poutine here in northern Maine…..they even serve it in the schools. Lots of different favors, I especially like BBQ chicken with curds in the gravy…..you can almost feel your arteries clogging with every bite!

Love the poutine. Here in the Twin Cities, IF it has meat, the trend has been roasted pulled pork, or occasionally, bacon.

Ironically, it’s hard to make jokes about biking in January in Montreal, ’cause there really are people doing it…

It didn’t take that dumb Pig long to pack……beret and all.

A wonderful dish, poutine!! I’d suggest going to a place called Reuben’s for their reuben as well as the poutine. If you do visit bring me back some Aero bars, please. I’ll even accept Smarties (by Rountree)

Mmmmm, Poutine! My favorite part about my one and, so far, only trip to Canadia.

Cannot believe such a dish is not served at some fast food restaurant here in the South.

In this area they have poutine, too. Super tasty and bad as hell for ya!

When we visited Canada, we plugged the meter and went to see Old Montreal. We misjudged our time and found a ticket. Then we went to Ottawa, plugged the meter liberally, went to see Parliament, came back, and found a ticket. I hadn’t seen the sign that banned parking during rush hour. So I managed to get two parking tickets in two Canadian provinces ON THE SAME DAY. And not little bitty ones like PEI and New Brunswick. No, Quebec and Ontario – provinces on steroids.

Both cities have commendable traffic control. It seems like a lot of major streets are one way headed out of town.

Cartoon Boy was wise to visit and enjoy Montreal. But Pig is too eager to move there to live! I’ve been to Montreal in the snowy time, and I’m thankful for its underground walkway in the downtown area….

We in Toronto will tell you that the C-H on the Montreal jersey stands for “Centre Hice”.

Poutine is Canadian for Nachos.

That sounds like my fantastic Montreal trip! Mmmm poutine. Not as good at home, can’t get the proper cheese curds.

No doubt its high in fat and calories, but it sounds a lot tastier and substantial than a cheese burger on a Krispy Kreame doughnut.

Think Montreal / Mount Royal is confusing? I live in Town of Mount Royal (or Ville Mont-Royal); it’s on the Island of Montreal, it is surrounded by Montreal, but it is neither on the slopes of Mount Royal nor part of the City of Montreal. Maybe we should just change call it New York City to avoid confusion.

Heeeeyyyy…PBS has been in our paper for years, Love it. Thanks, Steph…but as a Montrealer, you’d hate the icy sidewalks here in Montreal today. Thanks for the accolades. You are now an Honourary Montrealer, per our mayor.
