I kinda wish if they were gonna do so many reruns they’d start from the beginning. This 1 is from 2002 and Pickles here on gocomics doesn’t start from the beginning (starts at 2003) so I’ve never seen them and I imagine most people that did see these really old ones doesn’t remember anyway. The 1st Pickles strip was in 1990 so there’s a lot of strips that aren’t available here on gocomics
Our two cats, a male Bombay and a female Torte, love getting massages. They ask for them. I have a small massage unit (about the size of my hand) that I use on their backs and around the head area. I tried using it on the dog’s back but she was not that crazy about it. The unit is small and her fur is thick so maybe she does not get the benefit that the cats get? I once posted about this on a cat FB page and some members tried to sexualize it and that really annoyed and disgusted me to no end.
The same thing works on a cat. We’ve always referred to a petting session as a massage. The kitty loves it and usually goes in for a long nap afterwards.
It seems to work in a similar way with people. The more some get kneaded (by getting a massage or an adjustment), the more they seem to need to see a masseuse or go to a chiropractor.
Cats like their head rubbed, especially behind their ears. I think all cats, including the big ones, like it too. Unfortunately, no one has the guts to do it to the big ones.
I got kneed in the crotch as young boy once.. don’t recall any degree of liking the kid that did it.. as I recall, there was a considerable degree of revenge enacted once I could stand up.
Who needs a book? Just massage a cat or dog’s neck, shoulders and back the same way you would another human. The human loves it and so do the animals, for the same reasons. Same muscles, pretty much, right?

seems like it will always need you to feed it, house it and provide medical services whether you knead it or not

Some cats like deep massage; some don’t. Kirby would simply bliss out. “Sure, go ahead, dislocate my leg, just put it back when you’re done.”
