Throughout history, women (and sometimes men) have disfigured themselves and damaged their health in the misguided goal to “look nice”.

A scowl is nice – it’s a nice improvement.

Do not think it is an improvement, Opal!

Earl treats her like dirt, and she wants to look nice for HIM ??

I got my first eyeglasses when I was 10, although I probably needed them before that. Fast forward about 60 years, and the cataract surgery I had to have allowed me to see without them. Only downside of the surgery was I now need reading glasses to see things close, which is a little inconvenient when I need to look at my phone’s screen.

I never could wear contacts. I’d practically poke my eye out just trying to put them in.

Still looking like Mr. Magoo.

Glasses are part of my wife’s “look”. She had cataract surgery 15 yrs ago but still wears glasses as she is so accustomed to wearing them.

Opal, Opal, Opal, what you need at your age is a face lift, that way you can look hideously ridiculous.

Welp, back to the drawing board.

I’m so used to seeing porch swing fails on America’s Funniest Home Videos that I’m expecting that to happen in the comic in the fifth panel. ;-p

Some people look better with glasses than without. Also, I know lots of people that look better when I’m not wearing glasses.

Tried contacts of all kinds,couldn’t wear’em….turns out my eyes are too dry…..

This is a fast-moving story; Opal got contact lenses without Earl having an inkling about it?

Most of us made the glasses-to-contacts transition when we were in our teens or twenties, when both vanity AND manual dexterity are at their peak.

Kudos to Opal (I guess) for trying out contact lenses for the first time in her 70’s. Now I’m trying to convince my eye specialist that I’m not interested in “the latest and greatest” innovations in contact lenses. Two years ago, he tried fitting me with sclera lenses that cover the entire visible surface of the eye (and then some!). It was an awful experience.

I bet she cannot see that his moustache grew back overnight.

glasses must make you both look smarter and act smarter, …… unless Opal secretly had a lobotomy after she ditched the glasses.

Nothing will work for that.

The mustache has come back in FULL FORM from 3 days ago!

If you’re trying to look nice, you’re not achieving it with that expression, Opal.

Due to her age, her eyes might be too dry. She should take them out, clean them, and add drops as needed. Somehow, I am thinking she won’t be seen wearing the lenses again, though.
