If your cat doesn’t eat what you feed it right away, don’t just (try to) spice it up right away. Unless there are some other symptoms, just wait and let it get hungry enough that it will eat what has been provided.
OH. MY GAWD. Our three feel it is their inalienable right to sniff ad taste ANYTHING that is being served on the counter, on the stove, or at the table. One of them MUST have a taste of everything; his current fav is a piece of gingersnap. Oddly enough, none of them like sugar. . .

Looked this one up. Black pepper isn’t toxic to cats but can cause discomfort. Onions and garlic are listed as hazardous though
