Frozen yogurt here due to lactose intolerance. Just as yummy and available in lots of flavors, though not as many as ice cream. Oh well, win some lose some.
The best reason to have kids at all is to have someone to enjoy the happy times. All celebrations are fun mostly because watching the kids actually have fun makes it fun. Decorating a Christmas tree with no kids to help is like putting on a play with no audience.
Oh, my hubby ( me, too) will drive out of the way to pick up our grandkids to get ice cream! In each of their towns, there is one really awesome little ice cream shop we will never pass up! Brooklyn, MI has The Creamery. . . So many awesome flavors, best ever, and you know you go too often when the proprietor can almost guess what the order will be when you and our crew walks in. Fenton, MI has Uncle Ray’s and it’s all homemade ice cream! Again you know you’ve been faithful customers when Uncle Ray’s (not his name, but his uncle’s who started making the homemade flavors many years ago) knows your grandkids by name. He also knows that Papa and Nana will pick up the tab so the grands can forget their parents’ price limit!

Ice cream for the kid. Frozen custard for the elder (less cold on dental bridgework).

Last time my wife wanted some ice cream while we were out, the person taking the order was so bad, we just drove off.

Usually pretty safe to say “Great idea, glad you thought of it!” regardless of who did.

This Plugger has no grandchildren. He does have a 9 Year old. We stop weekly at DQ after Kung Fu Practice.
