If Dubya had not micromanaged Tora Bora and let the military do their job, this might not have happened.

Virtually the same cartoon as yesterday, virtually same comment:

Republicans* gained hero status for Bush and Cheney.

You know, because America First.

And we gained a shiny new patriotic ‘issue’ for Republicans* for their new technique of Continuous Campaigning, which could later be used against whatever Democrat had to clean up the mess.

And, as noted yesterday, trillions for military contractors.

.

*Republicans are now The Party Of Trump.

Maybe instead of asking the question, Stantis should answer it.

Of course, that might require facing reality — which might be overwhelmingly traumatic for Conservatives.

Not as traumatic as admitting that Trump lost, I’ll admit, but still.

It was worth the never ending loss of American troops fighting for no discernible cause!

We can’t stand to see them suffer, we can’t stand to see us suffer when we help.

No. Neither was the invasion of Iraq, for that matter.

The afghan invasion was worth it. Hunting down Bin Laden and driving out the Taliban was worth it. But staying more than a few years was outrageous.

The news media, that has hardly mentioned Afghanistan in the last ten years, is horrified that we’re leaving.

“When comparing the Taliban with the United States and its Western allies, the vast majority of Afghans have always viewed the Taliban as the lesser of two evils.”

For a guy who doesn’t read the comments, he does like to stir up the hornets nest in here…

War is never worth the cost but sometimes the cost must be borne nonetheless. Afghanistan war was over after a few months, it was put on the back burner for adventures in Iraq. Taliban surrender should have been accepted in 2001 and troops withdrawn. The eventual political result would be the same, minus most of our casualties. Afghans’ casualties would be the same or worse. A generation who knew relative freedom would not have. Was it worth it to them?…

The flag of the United States of America. The republicans say they are patriots and they love the USA and the USA flag . The republicans say democrats hate the USA and the USA Flag. More projection on the republican’s part.

It is the republicans that hate the USA. They spread misinformation and lies. They will not get vaccinated and wear masks. They foment an insurrection against our government.

Per the American Flag Code, it is the republicans that disrespect/hate the USA flag. I see it everyday at work. A fake patriot has a flag with the 2nd amendment written across it. I see it at trump rallies, with people wearing the flag and images of trump printed on the flag. I see it with a moron wearing a “I stand for the flag” t-shirt, while sitting on the flag. I will list the sections of the code they are violating.

Not after Bin Laden and Al Qaeda were taken out.

The level of bathos here is approaching the iconic Simpsons poster of a weeping unicorn asking “WHY??”

Not in the least.

Sadly, no; worse, we knew it going in. When will this foolishness stop?

A question we need to ask. There is no easy answer.

No-we never should have gone there in the first place.

Laziness disguised as profundity.

The cost is never worth it to those who must bear it. But it is worth it to the part of society that reaps the benefits without being impacted much by the cost. Take for example the military contractors who made a bundle over the last 20 years.

it certainly was worth it for the military industrial complex who no doubt will soon be backing another incursion somewhere in this planet, and then we the sheeple will have forgotten all of these abysmal failures (and lost of lives) and will answer the call to glory all over again.

Once again the repukeikins have ignored the words of a great Republican President, Dwight David Eisenhower. A 5 Star General from WW II who said to beware of The Military Industrial Complex!

Nugatory

It didn’t matter what day we left Afghanistan – 2003, 2006, 2021, or 2053. The result was always going to be a coup by religious fanatics.

Is it EVER worth it?
