A much, much bigger bowl.

For those who thought about this in the Middle Ages, substituting a geocentric material universe for the room, the answer was God. Not really an answer, but then, even with the cosmologies on offer nowadays there really isn’t one.

It’s bowls inside rooms inside bowls inside rooms, all the way down.

The fish’s name is a shout-out to 16th century philosopher Giordano Bruno, who devised cosmological theories based on the model recently proposed by Copernicus. Bruno theorized that the stars were in fact other suns, and they were surrounded by their own planets which might harbor life. He asserted that the universe was actually infinite. He was burned at the stake as a heretic in 1600.
