/// Baby’s parents are happily sighing

now that, after three hours of trying,

    their child, (recently hatched),

has now at long last latched.

While he’s nursing he’s no longer crying.

I’m reminded of a line I once heard from a comedian:

    .

“My wife never supports my efforts at taking care of our kid. One day she walked in on me feeding him, said ’you’re doing it wrong’, and BAM! Pulled him right off my nipple!”

Her two breasts were lovely. They matched!/

    but lovers were quickly dispatched:/

    Every probable lover/

    was appalled to discover/

there was always an infant attached..

    Parental Bliss

    Paste (including the quote marks)

"Category:Parents and children in art" Wikimedia

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, Brave, and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found, and once there find the text string (1903), and click its link for info and links that point to more info (perhaps best viewed by the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers, which can automatically translate most webpages if necessary) about this painting.

Again, a larger strip image is also shown by merely clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s THROWBACK THURSDAY: MASTERPIECE #2621 (1/18/21) (July 10, 2024) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment. I have added a comment there pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 2 works by him have been used here (3 times total, including this Throwback Thursday repeat), the January 18, 2021, strip being its first use. The February 21, 2018, strip has the other by him, so far.

Some comments from the 01/18/2021 post:

rmremail: “Don’t take too long – once you’e done I want to start teaching him the trade”

Papared25: Ian suddenly understood where the term “jug of milk” came from.

gopher gofer: Clara wished that Claude was as eager to help with the dishes and laundry…

Buzzworld: As a plumber, Jack was fascinated how Isabella’s faucets worked.

Snoopy_Fan: “See? I told you they were real.”

    MS72: “…and they’re spectacular!"

P51Strega: Claud likes to keep abreast of his child’s development.

Reader: Not that guy again – the one who tries to give me a bottle and then steal my milk.

Bookworm: I don’t know why, but this painting puts me in mind of a child I saw many, many years ago on the old Art Linkletter “House Party” show. Art was asking the kids which parent the child resembled most, their mother or father. One giggling little boy piped up with, “I don’t look like my mommy or my daddy. I look like the milkman.” (Art later published a book called Kids Say The Darndest Things.)

kathywrites: Honey, I’ve just gone over our household accounts, and I’m afraid you’ll have to keep feeding little Jacques until he’s 12…

Another Take: Claude decides right then and there that his nickname for his boy would be JUGHEAD, regardless of how intelligent he might actually be.

PPMKS: If breasts didn’t have nipples, there would be no point.

Running Buffalo: Well, if you are saying it is too early to teach him baseball; how about training him for eating contests?

    One more original …

MissScarlet: My parents, only one generation removed from natural nurturing, could not believe that I could sustain all three of my sons through breast feeding alone. They are all over 6 foot now, and all went from breast to cup.

Another Take: “*MOM! YOU’RE EMBARRASSING US!*” said 3 tall boys in unison.
