I never understood why people rush to buy more tickets just because the pot is so much larger. Their chances of winning are the same. Is winning a few million not enough for them?
We used to have a “game” where the jackpot was only $75,000 but it repeated quite often so chances of winning were better. The ad slogan was …"Not enough to change your life, But more than enough to make your day!" I thought it was a great idea. …never won.
We don’t play the lottery, but my husband, the math person, always calculates what would be left after taxes. He says it would be “only” this amount, and I say, “Yes, but that’s still money you wouldn’t have had otherwise.”
Of course you have a better chance when there’s less competition, but then you have better chance of getting struck by lightening then winning the lottery.

Lotteries are just a tax on the weak-minded.

Winning is no fun if it isn’t more money than Veeblefester has.

The vast majority of lottery players are losers. (Can be taken as either opinion or fact, the reader gets to decide.)

Many years ago, I tried to buy a lottery ticket at the grocery store. I was told they were out. Never tried again.
I have known people who played a lot and would occasionally win a few bucks, but one friend actually won about $30,000…

Just checked. Only got one number! When you scan your ticket the machine says “Non Winner.” But we know… It’s a LOOSER!

So Brutus made a smart move, but for the wrong reason, for him though, that’s got to be considered a win.

That is the logic of the Born Loser. He knows he won’t win so why not wait until the pot gets really big.
I figured decades ago that just being alive after my Army training accident in 1979 used up all of my good luck.

The lottery is millions of stupid people making one stupid person look smart.

The lottery is for suckers. All the welfare check drawers in my area waste their checks on this nonsense.

With his luck he plays wins but doesn’t find out until the time to claim the prize runs out.
