You mean Trump is the product of evolution?

Nov 5 the world paused, and after some introspection, decided to reverse course…

This looks like it could have been taken from the pages of A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson.

B-but evolution is just a theory, and all theories absolutely every single theory are equal. Teach the controversy!

Anyone else read this to “Also Sprach Zarathustra” (i.e., “2001”) playing in their head?

To me, Trump and his ilk are proof that progress is never straightforward. Gonna be a bumpy ride for a bit and potential negative consequences of their actions/inactions are HUUUUGE. We shall see how much his “fans” are willing to take BOHICA-style.

There are those who criticise contemporary culture, saying that it’s bankrupt and with little merit. I’m inclined to agree…

In many (if not most) species the number of offspring surviving long enough to pass along their genes is less than half. It’s estimated that currently 20% of all women and 25% of all men die childless (seems low to me, and I suspect it was much higher not that long ago), but there’s a good chance that the unbroken string of reproductive successes ends with Bob.

But hey, none of us asked to be here, and as long as we’re here we have to find something to do with our time, even if (by choice or by circumstance) we are branches that ultimately bear no fruit.

For most of the last century, America was the leader of the free world, considered a force for good against evil, and respected by everyone. Now, we are respected by none of our former allies and our enemies are catering to Trump’s ego while laughing at him and America behind his back.

In the past, we have been able to correct this sort of mistake with an election, and with three branches of government and the constitution putting limits on what could be accomplished, the damage was somewhat limited. Trump has the Supreme Court in his pocket, and a Congress that is afraid to do anything. He ignores the constitution and no one stops him.So, can we count on the election in four years to stop him? Why do you think he is firing everyone who might hinder him and hiring Trump fans? We may or may not have an election in four years. Trump did float the idea that Covid required that the 2020 election should be postponed. And, since he is making most of our historic allies furious with the USA, a crisis is quite likely. But even if we go to the polls, will it matter if the votes are counted by those who were chosen for their loyalty to Trump?

Hobbes wonders how we survives long enough to develop tools! We Humans have no retractable claws, can’t run fast, no fur, and are easily ambushed by any common predator!

My original comment said “We H*** Sapiens have no…….” I was flagged for that single word, and changed it to “We Humans….” What a world we live in today!
