Having been around a few, there is usually a residual ringing in the ears after. After a few years of that, the ringing goes away, but then so does the hearing. :)

Reminds me of myself as a boy. I would sometimes think of an explosion I had seen in a cartoon or a comic and make an explosive noise. My Mum then told me that there were saner people than me in mental hospitals.

Wallace should have used his net to catch the fish in frame three and added it to yesterday’s sea bass.

I appreciate the detail of them passing the ladder, Spud in front, and then Wallace turning as Spud is using the ladder to climb out behind him :)

one time at scout camp we were on a cliff. i wandered off and absent-mindedly imagined i was jumping off. the scout master ran up, furious, insisting that i’d screamed on purpose. it was not a nice trip after that :(

Poor Spud. Surprised he wasn’t shown thinking of Amelia and sharing ice cream. with hearts floating around.

Spud was lost in thought, again. This time concentrating on not falling off the pier and proud of how far he has walked while still dry.

Many years ago when I was living in Washington, DC; my husband and I heard and felt an enormous explosion very early in the morning (This was a decade before 9/11.) I, being raised Methodist/Southern Baptist, rolled out of bed onto my knees and started praying for the “souls, who were at this very moment, springing for heaven and those of us who had yet to leave.” (This was during Ronnie Raygun presidency) I thought it was a nuclear attack. My husband, being part of Naval Intelligence, thought so too. He started counting until we would feel the nuclear wind. After two minutes, he told me to come back to bed, it was a false alarm. Later, we found out a power transfer station about a block away blew up.

Can relate to this, actually. As a kid, I had a reputation for making explosion noises when thinking about them.

Back in middle school I practicing saxophone at the dining room table when the front door next to me (that was seldom used – most people went to the back door) suddenly swung open and my friend yelled RAWR! I took the single reeded mouthpiece out of my mouth, turned my head towards the door and screamed AAAAAAAH!

The reaction was involuntary, but still surprises me that I would turn my head first to look before screaming at being startled

Good to see that Spud has hair. I wonder how he keeps all it on top of his head.

I wouldn’t have hung around long with anyone who habitually made loud noises unexpectedly. However, I remember trying to imitate the sound of distant explosions or other noises… I tried to capture the echoey feature of that kind of sound,

Reminds me of my little sister, she loves screeching randomly, most often right in your ear. To clarify she is in college now, but still loves making us jump from time to time :]
