The abuse goes both ways. Nature gives us diseases, storms, predators and other dangers. If humans have gone a bit overboard in self-defense, they can hardly be blamed. Now that we have gained the upper hand, we can afford to be a little magnanimous. For much of human history, that wasn’t true.

Dry places are dead places, but the rocks don’t have chemical reactions. (Sand blasting from dust storms is another matter.).“Imagine what the “base” of our world looks like after this stuff seeps into the ground.”.It has little effect on silica and alumina. The carbonate and sulfate were formed in the first place by such reactions. There were sinkhole and caverns long before humans. We just didn’t notice because we didn’t exist.
