Thank God I got rid of my cable/satellite/antenna a few years ago. I don’t miss any of it, and am especially glad I don’t have to see commercials. I also have multiple ad blockers, so I hardly ever see ads on the interwebs.
Last night I was sitting on the couch talking to my wife about life and the subject of death came up.
I told her “Never let me live in a vegetative state, totally dependent on machines and liquids from a bottle. If you see me in that state I want you to disconnect all the connections that are keeping me alive, I’d much rather die.”
My wife got up from the sofa and proceeded to disconnect the Cable TV, DVD, the laptop and the Xbox. Then she went to the bar and threw away all my whisky, rum, Gin, Vodka and the beer from the fridge.
I probably need to start being more clear and specific in my communication.
Before we switched to watching 100% streaming TV we used to mute and pick up a book to read. The ads add up to a large portion of one’s life, use the time wisely.
I’ll either record a show (even football) or start a show and hit pause, come back ten or fifteen minutes later and start watching. I then ff through the commercials. Jeopardy seems to be about fifteen minutes long without commercials.

Now you turn off the TV.

Commercials pay for the programs you watch. You can use that time for other things.

Get a DVR. Whip right through the commercials.

I’m sure we’re not the only ones who tell each other “Remember to NEVER buy that.” or ask each other “What were we watching again?”

Turn on “Closed Captioning”?

I thought the endless commercial breaks were reasons to:
A) visit the bathroom;
B) grab a drink and a snack;
C) check email, messages, and voicemail; or
D) all of the above.
Having the commercials muted is a bonus.

Judging by the commercials, only old people watch the programs that I watch. They’re all about meds and Medicare, hearing aids, etc.

One of the things about watching Korean TV is that they only run commercials between, not during programs

I just DVR all the shows I watch. Then fast forward through the commercials.

Streaming foreign mysteries without commercials but by reading the subtitles I’m sure I am wide-eyed too.

Why do they seem shocked in the third panel? I don’t get this comic about half the time.

Wait 20minutes and the show will resume( for about thirty seconds)

It’s all one silent unending commercial, so they may as well make out.

I don’t watch TV at all- only use it for DVD/VCR. All my friends know this, but they still ask “Did you see/watch …. last night?” Very annoying.

As usual for this strip – I don’t get it.
