Here’s a life life for you, Hamboy… You don’t have to actually commit the crime to get in trouble if you were thinking about doing it as well as having the means to do it!
OMG. I remember my brother pulling the “bridge” line on me, only he said “tall building”. We each wanted to watch a different show. I told him that “everyone” was watching my choice. He pulled the line on me. I’ve never followed the crowd since.
Careful there, mom and dad. Hammie is wildly impulsive and easy to lead astray, but he’s also honest. You want him to stay honest so adults will believe his side of the story when other kids try to get him in trouble.
Hammie tells the truth and is still punished, overdone BTW. And then they wonder why kids are willing to lie. He should be rewarded for trusting in telling the truth.
I know what you’re thinking kid… “I don’t believe this! I made one rude noise during class, by accident, years ago and suddenly I’m marked for life!” You’d be right!
Smothers Brothers bit:Tommy is mugging faces. Dickie: “Tommy what are you doing?” Tommy: “just having some fun.” Dickie: “why now on national television?” Tommy: “uh, the piano player told me to do it.”Dickie: “well if the piano player told you to jump off a bridge would you?” Tommy: “Not again!”
Something I’ve been wondering about Hammie. I’ve been reading through my BB collections recently. Back when Hammie was in kindergarten, it was noted that his comprehension of math was possibly higher than Zoe’s (which led her to comment that the standards had lowered since she was in kindergarten). In first or second grade, Wanda and Darryl were bemused that a kid so constantly covered in bruises could also pull straight A’s—and, it was implied, on a regular basis. A very short time later, Hammie’s math was so poor that the teacher suggested a tutor. Why did they decide to dumb him down? If, as I suspect, it’s more a question of his attention span, I wish they would make that clear.

I can’t believe he got sent home for a spit wad. That should be a clip down or recess walking level incident.

I’d still like Trent to get some sort of comeuppance for selling Hammie out!

What happened to standing in the corner? Plenty of toys and games in Hammie’s room.

Aw, don’t send him to his room until you’ve gotten to know Trent. Hammie’s just being honest!

I’m sure parents came up with that question before bungie jumping was a thing.

Let Trent set the bungee cord length and take the first jump.

Get the school to move Hammie’s desk away from Trent. Trent is clearly a bad influence, and Hammie is too easily (and willingly) influenced by him

I shudder to think about his parents dealing with Hammie’s poor impulse control once he hits his teens.

For cryin’ out loud! Give the kid a break. Lord knows he does enough naughty stuff; don’t punish him for what he wasn’t able to do!
