My daughter got involved in LARP (Live Action Role Play) last year & had to make her own sword. She got really positive comments from the people in charge; hers was the best first-time sword they’d ever seen. This year, she’s Vice President of her group. (For the record, her sword was definitely a lot better than mine back in the day.)
Those “swords” too some time to make (especially finding that many cardboard tubes! ) Are Wanda and Yolanda enjoying some white wine and old tv reruns?
Geez, these kids today, they are so soft. When we were kids we would make swords from furring strips and use the lids from our trashcans for shields.
All our dads hated us when we sword played, because almost everyone had two round aluminum trash cans at their house. A large one for regular trash and a smaller one for organic garbage, usually the kitchen refuse. We would beat those poor smaller trash can lids to death. The trash cans would last for years, but every so often our dads had to buy new lids for the small trashcan. We were lucky that the hardware store sold lids separately.
I’m pretty sure I never referred to my parents’ friends by their first names when I was Hammie’s age. The particularly close ones were Aunt/Uncle [first name] and the rest were Mr/Mrs [last name].
Having health problems at 78, I’ve been having my kid (just turned 74) Brother running errands for me.I tell him I’m getting even for when as a young teen I had to babysit him.

Hammie needs to quickly fart and subdue Zoe with a gas attack while she’s in mid-ninja leap.

Tubes make funny noises when you hit them against things.
