To answer the second panel… YES!! Isn’t stopping bad behavior by any means necessary your job? Do it already! Geez, Calvin was right. Some people weren’t meant to be moms!
Amy: Sheldon, you know, Penny’s got a point. Sometimes when you want something big from someone, you… you got to be careful not to scare them away, you know? You got to start small and… and build up slowly, even if it takes eight years. Eight. Long. Years.
Sheldon: That’s oddly specific. Have you ever done that?
I’d think after a while, your brain would just tune it out. If not, there’s always earplugs. Or ice cream. Oooh, do they still make those “all-day” suckers?
to be fair, we have a friend who’s little girl (grown up now) would cry and whine constantly. Eventually found out she felt horrible, because she was massively diabetic. Treated the issue, no more whining.
Who’s in control here, Wren or Wanda? Making everyone else suffer, also teaches Wren she can get by with it. Would this behavior be allowed then in a public place such as a restaurant? I think not, so not good Wanda, teach her now not latter.
There’s a kindergarten right across the road from our house. One summer they had this kid who was constantly up on the high C. I felt really sorry for the parents (and the kindergarten teachers). We could clearly hear it into our house and to our back yard (not facing the kindergarten). I feel Wren’s family’s pain!
I was on an airplane with a screaming kid and everyone tried to shush her…stewardesses, other passengers, etc. When we landed, the kid was still screaming and the mother looked at her and told her to stop it. She did. I looked at my husband and said, maybe she could have done that 3 hours ago.

Let Wren know that it is NOT acceptable behavior. Kids need to know where the boundaries are.

If you can’t modify your child’s behavior, you are not parenting.

Or shriek back at her and stand back and wait for the shocked expression when they realize how annoying it is. And that the adult would do it, too.
