“OW! I thought you said your kid didn’t bite?”

    “He’s not my kid.”

Best never to extend your dominant hand to a dog, and keep your fingers curled under and your thumb tucked in.

Don’t just assume that all pets or kids are safe.

Perhaps, only if he’s hungry enough.

If he piddles on your leg, he likes you.

Last trip to the hospital with my dog, a little girl was shy and hesitant to pet our two dogs. Mom said that the girl had recently been bitten and was now afraid of dogs. We each offered to hold our dog’s heads so she could pet them on their backs first, and promised her our dogs do not bite. We gave her the trading-style cards we have on each dog, and the girl petted mine first, as she is much smaller than the other one. She eventually was smiling and hugging them. A little patience and assurance can go a long way. Our dogs are trained to never, ever bite. I have seen people, unknowingly, really hurt my dog. She just freezes and waits for me to rescue her, and I do. ASAP, but quietly.

Only chicken nuggets, hot dogs, Mac-N-Cheese, and literally nothing else.

Our daughter liked to pretend to be a cat. “No nipping” was an often heard phrase at our house.
