Oh, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis… For all your ire and indignation, your poofage just makes you look like a big Dandelion. Chill, you ever vigilant watchcat… it’s Burt!
I have to agree with Puck. Burt is so handsome! I love ginger cats.
Ankle update: Later this morning I should be getting my cast taken off. Then fitted with a walking boot. This broken ankle has really hindered me getting prepared for our cruise. We’re headed for Bermuda (hopefully…) as long as Hurricane Florence behaves and doesn’t make landfall or get too close to the island. Prayers and positive thoughts to keep Florence at bay are appreciated!
The steady “beep-beep-beep” of the truck’s backup warning filed the dump building and echoed off its concrete walls. The truck backed up to the drop-off point then let out a loud hiss as the air brakes were applied, then released. “Eyes on the prize,” Megan advised. “Let’s waste no time- I’m pretty sure there are rats in here.” Now, THAT lit a genuine fire in Tre-C; “Rats?” This thought was hers alone. Her eyes were now set in “surveillance” mode and her ears, moving back to front- even in the din- could detect the sound of a bottle cap hitting the floor. “Tre-C! Something moving near the center of the depository- it’s on the floor but heading for the truck!” “On it, Megan- keep an eye out for Hector!” Tre-C saw the vermin even as Megan called out to her. Larger than average, this rat had few challenges to keep it from gorging on the plenty that was dumped here every day. “And I don’t think you’re inclined to share…” Tre-C thought, remembering the rodent special she saw on Discovery. “Muricide”, the term was. This rat might attack a mouse even if wasn’t hungry, and the way it was coming to where the “fresh” trash was deposited concerned the young tabby. Tre-C crept closer, unseen by the rat- or by a human. At the same time, Megan saw a small, grayish shape, struggling in the flow of the refuse. Also doing her best not to be seen, Megan jumped into the trash just as Tre-C, paws outstretched, leaped at the rat. Had the video recorders been on, it would have been a remarkable sight…
Loving greetings & heartfelt thanks to all the Mega Orb for your kind & generous support. I’m hanging in there, even if I rarely want to go online anymore. Depression is such a bummer.
Appointment is Oct. 1, so maybe I can get to the bottom of this. I thank God (hope some of you don’t mind) for your boops, bumps, warm thoughts & prayers! Please know I have never stopped loving all of you & am thankful to Lady Bri for keeping me in the BCN loop. She’s a treasure!
BillJackson, thinking of you and any other friends in the Gulf area. Hugs and prayers for everyone in the Gordon zone. Bill, when you are able, please holla and let us hear from you.
Hey, I just noticed something… Is Burt polydactyl? He looks like he has a thumb on his left paw… My Hemingway is a poly. He has two extra on his left front, 2.5 on his right front (seriously, the third one is just the tiniest nub of a toe bean) and one extra on each of his hind legs. Anyone else have poly babies?
Off topic, but I’m in need of some guidance here. Ember has ear mites. The vet gave us some lovely ear drops for her. Ember … doesn’t find them so lovely, suffice to say. She has surprised her Boy with her strength and gymnastic abilities (to say nothing of her skill set in using her claws) over the past couple of days when we’ve tried to give them to her, and her Boy is not exactly a 60-pound weakling. (Her Man, on the other hand …) Suggestions for at least holding her down and holding her head still long enough to get the drops in? Thanks in advance.
Elvis reminds me of our fierce protector of he patch, Sarah. When she’s out on the screened in porch and sees another feline in the yard, she snaps to attention. If said interloper goes to either side of the yard, she’s okay with that. Should said feline start getting too close to the porch, she lowers herself and waits. She’s then have the enlarged tail and slightly poofy body. Fangs bared and that angry noise follows. I thank her for protecting the house, but remind her that maybe the cat isn’t as fortunate to have a home. Eventually, she calms down.
Lady Kat, how are you and Paul? Actually I am sure you are giving him the best of care—but is someone caring for you? I suspect he is not quite u p to snuff yet.
Sad change of topic,I am sorry to mention that our beloved Georgia and The Man have had two deaths in the family this summer. Her brother in law and father in law both passed away – her father in law yesterday. I know we are all appreciative of the pleasure she has generated for so many people. Georgia, speaking only for myself but surely joined by others, we hold you close and offers all the support, ankle rubs, and purrs we can muster. Condolences to your family.

In the last (poofage) panel – has Elvis just total body poofed x 3 sizes or has Lupin shrunk?
