I just realized that there isn’t any report, special or otherwise, about shelves at breakingcatnews.com. … Could this be (Gasp!) a NEW series???!!?!?!

Is Elvis having a flashback, or did Lupin get into the high test coffee again?

Even when you are minding your own business, preparing for a teensy, weensy (but SPECTACULAR) jump, you can still be doomed.

Love the combination of teensy, weensy, and Spectacular! Can’t be all that teensy if it’s spectacular now, can it?

Our cat Bouree, long ago gone to her reward, was known for a spectacular series of leaps that ended up atop a stereo speaker mounted on a wall at a considerable height, and apparently completely inaccessible without a ladder. She was a slim cat, and never knocked anything down. She also carried her one litter of kittens up to a high closet shelf because she wanted to make sure that nobody could get to them. I don’t know if some cat news station filmed her exploits, but if Elvis could find that archive footage, he might learn something.

I know exactly what you mean, Elvis. Thankfully, the same thing didn’t happen to my cat.

The big point is to make sure the shelves are properly secured to a proper wall. A lot of force comes down on small area when a cat jumps on it. If it isn’t properly secured, it can and will come down, taking all contents with it.

It’s true. I’ve seen it done.

Cats defying gravity… “To run across the ceiling”? Words like ‘weensy’ missing from the Dictionary…Cats worshiped as Gods by the ancient Egyptians. I think we know what is going on here…It all ads up. Our cats, those lovable fur-balls, are extraterrestrials. And the Government is suppressing the truth! You can see them watching you. You can hear them hypnotizing humans with their purrrs. Wake up people!

Frigid greetings dearest orbsters! We’re basking at a balmy -18F (real temperature). Our orbsters to the northwest are “enjoying” even brisker weather.

My poor neighbors from Mexico are bewildered by this. Thankfully, they heed the warnings & keep their doggies inside (except for super brief potty sessions). I think our immigrant citizens have better sense than some of the native born. Bless them all!

Georgia, you need to buy these guys a Wave Shelf. Not only is it designed expressly for cats, but having installed one myself, I can assure your four-footed hooligans it will most definitely NOT collapse on them.

On the flip side, Paul saw the oncologist today and is still cancer-free! Oh frabjous day, callooh, callay, we chortled in our joy!

There’s a guy named Jackson Galaxy who apparently has (had?) a show on Animal Planet, but I’ve never seen it because I have the bare bones cable package that doesn’t include any channels that anyone would actually want to watch.

However, I’m very familiar with his books Catification and Catify to Satisfy. It’s all about modifying your living space for your cats’ enjoyment. Among other things it includes wall shelves for cats to use as ladders, perches, and elevated passageways. Of course, those shelves are wide enough for a cat to walk and turn around on, and they’re installed so they can hold the weight of a cat or two (or three, or four). Just do an image search for “catification” in any search engine. It’s amazing.

My life’s ambition is to be able to afford to have cats, and to be able to afford a living space that allows me to catify and also have a catio (that’s a patio for your cat—an enclosed outdoor space that allows them to safely go outside).
