Our smoke is back though not nearly as bad and it’s much worse in many places. Even so it is once again impacting our last warm days and making everyone tired and our throat’s sore, so I’ll be glad when it’s gone!!!
Meanwhile, I’m with Elvis and could use an anxiety shirt! Do they make those for us 2 legs?
The two prickliest cats accepting affection is making my week. Baba enjoying a chin scritchie and Elvis actually wanting a hug from Tommy—perfect end to a vet visit. Now if only my computer screen would stop going blurry on me!
Looks like all the cats are okay though Elvis l does not look too happy about the anxiety shirt, kind of like when the woman put the whole gang into X-Mas sweaters to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
I have an Anxiety Shawl! It is very fluffy and rust colored. I bring it out and both of my cats want it! If I am wearing it – they want to be wrapped up with me!
Had a request for a Shadow update. Our wayward guy made his way back from the vet after escaping their confines. From Monday afternoon to Thursday morning he made the one mile trek to our backyard, what a pleasant surprise when we saw him. He wasn’t a feral and was quite people friendly once he got used to during the backyard feeding. When we first saw him last February he had a big sore by his left ear. After time, before we started feeding him it was getting smaller.
Ok, fast forward to getting him to the vet. Once there, we found out that he he had ear mites, an additional infection in his left ear, hook worms, a
weak positive for feline aids and a upper respiratory infection so he is in our garage resting comfortably and recovering.
There is more medication and another visit to the vet in a week and a half for more possibly but he is so ready to come inside as he hears us in there doing the food thing and talking to the indoor guys. And the indoor guys know he is out there and are curious also. We would both love to let him in and be at home but for now he is better in the garage than outside. BTW I am sitting out there with him as I am composing this.
The real Tommy’s Woman posted a wonderful video of Tommy being cuddled and making air muffins.♥ https://www.facebook.com/TommyWhiskerstache/videos/368171254304997/
And all is well with the world … at least in the vicinity of the BPH! Elvis, that sweater is a lovely shade of green; once you get a Tommy-hug, you’ll feel so much better.
I had to resort to google to find that an anxiety shirt (or vest) is a real thing. I don’t know; I’d have to see how a cat really reacts to one.
Before looking it up, I thought that this was the first indication that the people in this strip actually see the clothes which the cats see themselves as wearing.
Burt-Ra: Your Majesty, it appears that a rare storm is coming to the Nile.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: My, that hasn’t happened in decades. How do we prepare for it?
Burt-Ra: I have already spoken with Puckmosis and Beatrixia of what measures we need to take. I am also trying to dissuade Bea from going out in the storm to play.
The Queen: Yes, there are no guarantees she will listen to your suggestion.
Burt-Ra: My main concern is Elvis-Anum. He may get all poofy during the storm.
The Queen: Don’t worry. I have an idea. Send for Maat-Tilda.
Sometime Later
Maat-Tilda: You summoned me, My Queen?
The Queen: Yes. Can you design a garment to ease anxiety during the storm?
Maat-Tilda: I have just thing, Your Majesty.
Later, During the Storm
The Queen: Puckmosis, there appears to be an unusual buzzing sound coming from the Royal Library.
Puckmosis: I will go and check at once, Your Majesty.
For those wondering how Beatrix was rescued, spotted this in the I Can Haz Cheezeburger RSS feed yesterday: https://cheezburger.com/12627717/cat-stuck-in-a-tree-for-three-days-finally-rescued-using-a-four-story-scaffolding-platform
National Virus Appreciation Day — … … … … … … {UTTER SHOCK} What plague rat or evil hacker thought this one up?! Actually, viruses can be quite useful once tamed. Frankly, I’d rather give the appreciation to the medical researchers who use them.
Look at the Leaves Day — Ours haven’t really started to change, but looking at leaves of any color is known to be relaxing and stress relieving. This whole year has been a good day to look at leaves!
National Butterfly and Hummingbird Day —Try walking on your food to taste it, like a butterfly … (HORK!) The thing that has always fascinated me about butterflies is that, in spite of their apparently erratic flight, they are actually very precise fliers. The erratic flight paths are a defense mechanism, as anyone who has tried to catch them appreciates. Hummingbirds can fly 30 mph straight and level, reach 60 mph in a dive, with wing speeds from 50 to 200 bps. Their heart rate is over 1,200 bpm, resting respiration 250/min. Polite greeting in hummingbird: “Let’s you and me fight!”
National Techies Day —Let’s hear it for our own species’ version of the Burger Bot! If someone says to you, “Every time I see you, you’re fixing something,” then you’re a techie. If I had $10 for everything I’ve re-engineered or repaired to make it work as it should have in the first place, I’d own Amazon, Microsoft, and probably Northrop-Grumman. Techies are the grease that keeps the world from grinding to a halt.
National Caramel Custard Day —Unofficially “Celebrate Stickiness Day.” There are few better, or better tasting, or potentially messier ways to raise your cholesterol and blood sugar levels. So what, you wanna live forever? Well, as a matter of fact, yes—so I can enjoy things like this. However, don’t try tasting it with your feet.
so…#1 Bea is honest (“No promises!”), #2 I heard George Takei’s voice when I read Elvis saying “Oh my!”, #3 Baba has a sweet smile when she gets her chin skritched and #4 Any cat who can get Elvis to say “Hold me” is a therapy cat extraordinaire!

That anxiety shirt doesn’t seem to be doing much. Elvis wants Tommy to comfort him, as though he still feels doomed.
