Cat Owner Problems. There’s always ONE who never gives you a moment’s peace. (Looking at you, Floofmonster, wailing around the house at the top of your lungs at 3am with your favorite blue mousey in your mouth.)
There are whole CDs and YouTube videos of environmental “relaxation” sounds that include peep toads, birds, and cicadas. I haven’t seen one yet that’s titled “Pet Collar Bells and Car Alarms.” Though there might be a potential target market of people with annoying relatives.
Hear the loud alarum bells-Brazen bells! What a tale of terror, now, their turbulency tells! In the startled ear of nightHow they scream out their affright!Too much horrified to speak,They can only shriek, shriek,Out of tune,
I’d think the patience started thinning earlier than that as they were annoyed with Lupin as soon as he was found. Bells can be relaxing, but Lupin’s would probably remind me of an old-fashioned warning that the church is burning down.
I still think Lupin would enjoy the bell just as much in “toy” form, and that we could amicably end this arc with everyone teaming up to bat it under the fridge or couch. GOAL!
As one who worked at car dealerships in the parts dept., I heard more than my fair share of car alarms sounding off and could tell if the car alarm was after-market or manufactured with the car. After hearing so many car alarms go off, I hardly get fazed when one starts blaring in a public parking lot.
My late loving wife and I never put bells on the cats, however the Chihuahuas and our Catahoula Leopard dog did have bells on their collars. It made it easier for us to know when they were awake at night and needed to be let out.
So, am I about to be right about Goldie regularly attacking Lupin? Getting closer to what I said about Puck refusing all attention, but still a very long way off there. But fourth panel looks like Goldie needs only a few minutes more for the attacking to begin.

Mild mannered Pucky and Goldie who can take many noises, are almost over the edge!

Will the kitties cover their ears and endure? Or will they gang up on Lupin to remove his “medal”? I can guess.

And mockingbirds who have memorized the entire car alarm sequence – and are happily performing at 3 am from the neighbour’s garage roof.

Any attempt at removing Lupin’s prize is surely doomed.

It’s time to end this bell fiasco and give the cats some peace and quiet.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Thomios: I’ve prepared a special breakfast for everyone before you go to the Great Pyramid.
Iron Glove: Ooh, is this a pecan and hazelnut loaf?
Thomios: That’s right. And I’ve made it with fresh honey courtesy of Queen Titania’s hive. At an undisclosed location.
Adobe Style: My friend Judy has always cooked with honey.
After Breakfast
Beatrixia: Thank you, Kara, for agreeing to take us to the Great Pyramid. We’ll probably have quite a few things to take back with us.
Kara: No problem, Bea. It’s what we camels do.
Sometime Later
Bea: Here we are at the treasure room.
Iron Glove: Wow. I could make some really nice trophies with this gold.
Adobe Style: There’s quite a few gems for artwork, right ladies?
Sophititi: I am already planning a new mural.
Maat-Tilda: I think these jewels would enhance my fabric designs.
Bea: I’ll leave you all to it. Violet-Ifa and I are going to check out the library.

Actually, I can think of worse sounds than Lupin’s bell. Like women screaming at the top of their lungs!

I still say they’re making a mountain out of a molehill about this bell, but I suppose they wouldn’t have a storyarc if they didn’t. :P
