Well, as far as the patient is concerned, wouldn’t that mean it doesn’t work?

I yearn for the days when it was illegal to market prescription drugs to the general public. I’m sure doctors and insurance companies hate it when patients come in asking for a prescription to whatever they saw on TV.

Pharmaceutical companies are way ahead of this, better to create a pill that offers some partial relief so people will be prepared to keep taking it, but also create some nasty side effects, then you can also sell expen$ive pills to treat those side effects as well. If you’re really good at it, those pills will also have side effects.

It’s like a never ending magic money cycle, that only ends when the patient or their family runs out of money.

It’s funny ‘cause it’s true. “Take our depression drug. Side effects include suicidal thoughts.”

That’s better than some of the things out there today, where the side effects sound much worse than the problem they’re supposed to be treating.

I got into a patch of poison oak a few years ago. Bad enough that I went to a doctor. He prescribed a cream whose contraindications included: May cause redness, swelling and itching. I read that and thought, “I got all that already!”

I was once given a pill for dizziness. One of the side effects listed on the label was dizziness.

I cringe every time I hear side-effects may include ‘death.’ I mean, it IS sort of an end to the problem, but isn’t it just a wee tad extreme?!?

Well, at least Dr. Mel’s pill does not have side effects that are worse than the ailment so he is following the part of the Hippocratic Oath which states , “Do no harm”.

If it has side effects that are the same as the disease, it does not make you better – so it doesn’t work.
