And without any tides, no more surfing. aaaarrrrrgh!

But no need to worry about that. We’ll ruin Earth long before the moon gets very far.

No worries, it will start coming back towards Earth again, oh and break apart once it reaches the Roche limit. Unless the Sun chews us both up before then.

If fact … it does give pause as to whether or not it’s something I need to be concerned about … since I’m neither a Gen-Xer or a Millennial … ;)

One day each week you can give a little thanks for the moon – on Moon-day.

My understanding of werewolves… And it’s limited since I don’t know any personally, is that they’re not terribly happy about the transformation. Some even call it a curse. So, wouldn’t they be happy to lose the moon?

So, 1250 feet or 381 metres every 10,000 years. I think we’ll be long gone before the moon is.

Once the moon has gone, we’ll have no one to moon but ourselves.

What a coincidence! The moon is the perfect size and the perfect distance to block the sun during the day during a total solar eclipse. This allowed us to prove that gravity can bend light rays like Einstein predicted. This advanced our knowledge of the universe immensely. If the moon left us, we would lose tidal action in the oceans and the seas would turn to soup. Fish would die (and so would the people that depend on them for food). It’s like it was put there on purpose. Hmmmm…..

The old scifi serial, Space 1999, proposed the idea that a lunar station would be, along with the moon it was placed on, hurtle through space, leaving the planet Earth without a satellite.

I’ve read that without the moon, the earth’s day would have been 4 hours long. And that suggests complex life wouldn’t have developed. Earth wouldn’t be lifeless but probably pond scum would be the advanced form.

I know the science of it is eye-rolling, but I thought the TV Mini-Series “Impact” was pretty entertaining:

Interesting that several years ago, it was reported that the moon is moving closer to earth by several feet per year. This was based on the laser signals being bounced off a mirror left there by one of the Apollo missions.

According to an episode on Dr. Who – the moon is actually an egg and when the creature is hatched, it will lay another egg/moon.

Years and years ago when the moon was closer to the earth, people had to duck every time it came around.

lunatic (adj.)late 13c., “affected with periodic insanity dependent on the changes of the moon,” from Old French lunatique “insane,” or directly from Late Latin lunaticus “moon-struck,” from Latin luna “moon” (see luna).

Seleniazomai Definitionto be moon-struck or lunaticto be epilepticepilepsy being supposed to return and increase with the increase of the moon. This meaning is doubtful as the Greeks knew nothing of epilepsy.

So, does this mean Mars, Venus and all the other planets without moons are spinning incredibly fast? And Saturn and Jupiter are moving much slower? Because that does not fit the facts. The Earth will naturally slow down on it’s own, not speed up.

If you look at the length of time a ‘day’ is for planets with and without moons, you’ll see it’s the exact opposite of what is claimed here. The Earth will naturally slow down on it’s own. Things like comets will cause drag and slow it down even more, or speed it up based on how it approaches the planet.
