Among the many things I detest about ageing, near the top of the list is losing the joy of running. I can still remember what it was like to be able to run without pain. Without fear of falling. Running without even thinking about it.
When you have short legs you have to run everywhere. If you don’t run things are over before you get there. Of course you walk to baths, but that doesn’t help.

There are occasions if you are here that you just have to be there! Where? Busy, busy, busy…can’t explain…gotta run.
Stop and smell the roses? No time…gotta run.

I sit on the patio and watch ants march along the rail to somewhere. They are in a line walking along. It always fascinates me.

‘poke along’? I’ve got a pretty good vocabulary, even anachronistic but ‘poke’ that must be a regional term.

The exterminator showed us a colony of “crazy ants” a while back. Their normal speed is like Calvin says.

How does Calvin know the ants are running? How does he know they can’t move a lot faster if they needed to?

I hope that “something else” doesn’t involve noodles… ☺

Can the pace of ants be predicted by the temperature?

I mean, if you’re minuscule and you have to maintain your anthill, you would be running.

I love how kids run everywhere. I sometimes wonder where all that energy goes as we age.

When I first read this, I didn’t get it, because I too was prone to running.

I was just watching little kids always running everywhere they go in the park.
