Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
âCops are here, Toad, youâre coming with me.â This development is ludicrous. Do I even need to clarify why? Also: in real life a police officer would need 2 seconds to exit the car and aim their gun at a criminal. What in blazes is going on here? Bullet time?
Lee: âI see Toad.â Lee exits the car and crawls: âHey, Toad, come here now!â and grabs Toad, At the same time Tracy takes position and aims his gun, just in case SB releases Mole and tries to move towards Toad.2 seconds time.
Toadâs âhigh and tightâ put a little pain in the old Sweatbox noggin, and bought a little more time for Tracy and Lee to nab him. With an arm like that it wonât be long before âBama, Oklahoma and Florida have scouts on hand, although I hear she may be leaning towards Northwestern. Projected as a center fielder.
Iâd love the team to bring back Little Halikaki or Little Pineapple from the 1960 story of a small feisty Hawaiian girl. Have Tracy take a trip to Hawaii and find her all grown up and running a resort hotel she inherited and helps Tracy solve some crime there.
Man I hate to say this but, SB looks like me without whiskers. The main difference is I am not a criminal. If I didnât know better Iâd think that Joe knew me. Check out that form from our little right-hander, and impact just between the right eye and temple; now in the real world heâd drop like a BOX OF ROCKS! If Toad takes him out I think that would be poetic justice.
Softball pitches are thrown underhandâ IN A GAME. This is no game, Toad is playing for her lifeâ and thought the pitch would be more powerfulâ and more accurateâ if she threw overhand. So far, sheâs right about the accuracy, and Iâll bet she just threw the most powerful pitch in her life too.
All this discussion on how to throw a softball? Really? Anybody in this situation would throw it overhand. And while im on here, I might as well leave a comment. I didnt really care for this story at first, but I like the outcome. I didnt like Sweatbox and his constant beads of sweat, but Chester Gould had Shaky and his âshake linesâ, Headache with his hand constantly at his head and Empty and his âas a matter aâ factâ comments, so the sweat beads are fine. I give the story a 6 out of 10, but with the Mole and Pouch co-starring, Ill up that to a 7.Now lets get on with the longer stories, which hopefully involve a long chase away from the city into farm country or wilderness.
I vote for âterrific.â The coloring, however, isnât. (Remember that the coloring on daily strips is outsourced; most strip cartoonists only do their own coloring on Sundays.)Replace all the blue in the last panel with yellow. Color Toad and Sweatbox completely in the shade of blue that you just replaced. Change the yellow headlights to white. Everything else stays the same. Then you have a gorgeous panel.
Toad is an accurate southpaw! Terrific! Now, I still hope Mole gets busy on Simon Baux. Or Lee or Tracy could take him out. Iâd be happy either way. I donât like that murderous old lecher.
You said: âNightShade09, to call something terrific is very strong praise. Iâm curious as to why you feel this way. Can you elaborate on your reasons? Thanks.â-âââââââââââââââââNo prob, SDM.Joe drew the police car coming right at us. So most of what we see are those blinding coronas of light (drawn as circles and elipses), coming from the headlights and roof lights.IN fact, thereâs so much light coming from them, that most of the car isnât visible, and what is â the roof rack, windshield frame, and hood â are shilouettes. We donât see the passengers because the windshield would be reflecting the roof lights. My favorite element in the drawing is that small part of the front grille â also in shilouette â that would be visible where the headlight beams donât overlap!Itâs too bad this was colored the way it was; given time and detail, this would be, well, teriffic. Thanks fer askinâ SDM!
I have had this silly commercial running through my head all day. I thought to myself, why should I be the only one who is thinking about this, so here you go!Boy and Father playing catchVolkswagen Passat CommercialI apologize for the audio. I couldnât find a better version.
âŚâŚ.when you stop and think about it, Moleâs gotta be embarrassed that a young girl had to step in and save him, ha ha. Anyways, I hope we actually are going to get some answers in the next few days instead of the sometimes leave everything hanging rush job to end it (like who did and didnât die in previous stories) also 1) why did Sweatie confess in the first place then? 2) why did he keep killing people, and who were theyâŚ.any significance? 3) when will his book signing tour, reality show, and talk show appearances begin, lol?
âŚâŚ.finally, a big THUMBS UP to Mike (and Joe) for the great VARIETY in their storiesâŚâŚnot just one standard bad vs good scenerio after anotherâŚ.
newsflash: Toad is no longer going to appear in this stripâŚâŚshe has just been signed by the Chicago Cubs, because she already throws harder than half their pitchers doâŚâŚ.
âŚ.the âoldâ Mole always kicked buttâŚ..but the new one seems to get HIS butt kicked lately nowâŚ..although that may be more due to the fact heâs been picking tougher fightsâŚ.he still rocks!
like I said on the San Antonio Express-News site Dick Tracy comments that was a baseball in Toadâs jacket?..she looked pregnant donât get mad at me yâallâŚ.guess the round shape of the ball threw me huh??
also why is Toadâs jacket purple here.. on the San Antonio Express-News website it was green whatâs going on here? also on the site since the strip takes place in Chicago some people in the comments there said Toad should be signed by the White Sox or the Cubs cause of her goood throwing thatâs good huh????
I think just out of poetic justice, Toad needed to land a killer blow somehow. Though Iâd still like to see Mole get his last lilcks in. I thought heâd have had the upper hand from the beginning of the week, but guess not.
I kinda like the coloring to todayâs strip. The characters really stand out against it. I like the constant blue against all the action. And really good artwork, to boot (but Iâd expect no less from Joe)..
This whole week of strips (so far) have really emphasized why I like this creative team so much. They actually put SUSPENSE into their stories, a feeling I got from the car chase sequence in the Blackjack story, and also in the Stiletta story as well. Team Tracy is putting everyone to shame, showing what can still be done in the comics medium. With this type of quality, this has been a great week for comics all around.

Toad is ambidextrous. On February 10, she was throwing right handed. Today she is throwing left handed.
