Abner Kadaver does not look like the sort of guy who wants to see daylight!

Looks like Abner is a lost cause for Mr. Kleen.

I had heard we might see Abner Kadaver again. Cool! His death trap story a couple years ago was great.

There were lots of great comments yesterday. If you haven’t read them yet, I encourage you to do so. Lots of thoughtful people sounded off, and I especially appreciated the helpful contributions by Chief Patton.I posted some Mrs. Chin Chillar (Notta Fallar) pics yesterday after someone asked about her, and I had no idea they would generate so much discussion, much less a mini-controversy. But since I started that little brouhaha, I thought I would try to put the capper on my comments about Notta with the below pic. It’s a reimagining of Notta that a professional artist (Al Rio) did years ago. I suspect Staton’s final colorized version is going to look more like this Notta than Gould’s version, but who knows. At any rate, I think this is a beautiful and fantastic portrayal, one that captures Notta’s amazing sexiness while also respecting Gould’s original portrayal.I expect Joe Staton will amp up Notta’s beauty and sexiness just as this artist did, and just as Staton has already done with Mysta. I had no idea Abner Kadaver was accused of so many murders! This “Mr. Kleen” is not only sleazy but also callous. I guess he figures he isn’t being paid enough….

I like Mr. Kleen’s attitude as expressed in the last panel….Kadaver is headed for a life stretch in THE BIG HOUSE.

It would also seem MISTER CRIME is still in business…..wonder if he hooked up with Ms Rize?

Re: comments concerning sleazy lawyers yesterday and today, give them a break……don’t know what the rules are for you guys south of the line, but I’m guessing it’s the same as here: a defense lawyer can’t refuse a client, based on his belief that it’s a lost case. He is required to give his best to defend even the most heinous villan. If you think about it, you will realise this is the only way all of us have the protection of fair treatment…….……I have heard, however, that lawyers have a way of avoiding cases that would dilute their success record by setting the fee exorbitantly high….a ‘get-lost’ fee, if you will.My appologies to the profession for letting the cat out of the bag…..

From the way it sounds Mr. Kleen’s plan will be like the bottle in panel one. Not real easy, but, semi eze.

An ethical defense lawyer who is stuck with Kadaver for a client would go to the plea bargain route to get his client life in prison instead of the death penalty. (But the prosecution or judge can refuse the bargain if they want.)

Failing that, trying to drum up some sort of extenuating circumstances, and sowing doubt on the charges you can. Maybe Kleen could get him off five of the thirty murder charges.

But since Kleen isn’t an ethical lawyer, and the objective here isn’t justice or the preservation of the legal system, I suspect as some of you do that Mr. Kadaver is going to be “shot while trying to escape.”

SDM, its RARE, but it happens… i AGREE with you about the sweatbox story… i think it was a good story… with good INTENTIONS… but somehow ended up getting cut short… not sure if it was by TMS’ hamstringing the team or what, but the resolution could have been better. overall it was GOOD, not GREAT.. but it wasnt as terrible as others claim it to be

There is little to add to Chief Patton’s wise insights and important information posted yesterday. The story had some problems, no doubt. The censored panels in the paper suggest there were issues that will remain out of the public sphere. That said, there was a lot to like about the Sweat Box saga: the continued (and delightful) development of Mole, the introduction of Toad, the focus on the WWII internment of Japanese citizens charged with no crimes, and the acknowledgement of gay couples, which allowed us to see a tolerant Tracy.

Despite my disappointment with some elements of the Sweat Box story, I remain immensely impressed with the high caliber work of Team Tracy. The resurrection of the strip remains nothing short of miraculous, the occasional second tier story notwithstanding.

B-bottle, I personally know the lawyer from Austin, Tx who defended Timothy McVeigh and asked him point-blank why he did it. I expected him to say “for the free publicity”, and there was some of that, but he responded, “to make the State do its job”. Looking around the world at a lot of 3rd World countries, the State throws people in the pen for whatever reasons they want, and for the most part, political reasons. I see his point. The govt paid $3 M for his defense, and in the eyes of his peers (lawyer circles), he did a bang-up job. He got the Johnny Cochran reputation out of it.

I notice the bottle of “Sani-Eze” on Mr. Clean’s desk. I guess the dude is a germophobe. Nice little detail kicked in.

Sometimes I wish SDM and Otto would take their hot & heavy bromance elsewhere! lol ;)

i noticed that nobody commented on the fact that, in the last panel… mr kleen seems to be “tossing kadaver’s picture aside”. perhaps this is a bit of foreshadowing for later in the story? could kadaver be the “sacrificial lamb” that kleen’s benefactors decide they can do without… or is it merely an “aside” to show kleen’s disdain of kadaver on a personal level and a different KIND of foreshadowing.. as in, kleen and his benefactors have written kadaver off but he will end up surprising them in the end amd POSSIBLY be the only one lefet standing when all is said and done? VERY psychological first salvo on the new story, a ti of the hat to mssrs curtis and staton for conveying so many potential/possible outcomes in six simple panels (todays and yesterdays)

Why a new story line when there were so many loose ends from the previous, ie why was the mayor so anxious to end the investigation? Who were the skeletons recently discovered?Taking lessons from Alley Oop?

No, no, no, do NOT kill Abner Kadaver off! He is easily the best villain Mike and Joe have created; one in the old Gould mold! Have him get that 30 count rolling upwards instead with some diabolical scheme………but if you want want to to kill kill Double-up off…..yessssss! He’s dumb…..

SDM, not for nothing.. and i will even admit that i do it myself at times.. you INTENTIONALLY GOAD people into reacting. i dont know WHY, but you do, and much to my dismay, i fall for it often.. hook line and sinker, and allow you to drag me into your realm of back biting and name calling etc. i want EVERYONE that posts on this board to hold me to ONE PARTICULAR THING…from this point on, i ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to even acknowledge that SDM even frequents this board at all. i intend to skip past any and all of his comments and iw ill endeavor to NOT reply to any and all of them form this point forward. i’d like to think i am a much more intelligent person than that, and to be truthful.. i AM. IF your opinions are “blasted” SDM, its because youre constantly finding nothing but fault with the strip, constantly degrading readers who think it is a great strip, and constantly posting biting and snarky comments directed at individuals and the creative team (comparing the pace of stories to snails, degrading stories as being “trainwrecks” etc). last i checked, we were ALL grown adults… and yes, we are entitled to have our own opinions and the right to voice them, however.. as a wise man once said “if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all”. even your “positive posts” have been made in sarcastic ways and you make no attempts to even TRY to cover them up in any way whatsoever. the sad part is that you in fact DO have a RIDICULOUS amount of knowledge concerning the strip and its rich history, but because the current team is not to your fancy, you repetitively speak in derogatory ways about their work, and unfortunately that “turns people off” to your opinions and your considerable knowledge concerning the strip and its history.

’Bout the same thing happened here. I made an “unwise” comment about the same bridge, and get called out because “some” cartoonist claims he was insulted. Like tsull, my lips are zipped from here on. Pretty low blow, though! (Hey, that rhymes!)
