Of course, in real life they’d do an autopsy to see what killed Abner (sudden death in prison is always suspicious), but this is a classic escape plotline, so we will let it slide.

Yeah, this has to be a fake death. Mike and Joe wouldn’t kill off one of their best villains like this.

Also, do I notice that the ‘doc in panels 1 & 2 is not the ’Doc’ in panel 3?

I love the character design of the doctor, though this may be the only time we ever see him. I’m not sure he can even see through those glasses, though, so I wouldn’t trust his professional judgement.

As for “Emilio Lizardo,” here’s a bit of dialogue from the crazy Buckaroo Banzai movie (I actually have a book of the script for some reason!):

Perfect Tommy: Emilio Lizardo. Wasn’t he on TV once?Buckaroo Banzai: You’re thinking of Mr. Wizard.Reno: Emilio Lizardo is a top scientist, dummkopf.Perfect Tommy: So was Mr. Wizard.

If they did do an autopsy on Kadaver, would it really make any difference? This guys practically a zombie now. Welcome back, Abner. We’re glad you’ve returned.

The woman is probably Rikki – see October 10 strip. Different hat, but same shade of purple.

She could well be Rikki, but beware trusting the website for any colour-based evidence.

Actually, considering Mike and Carole Curtis are big Buckaroo Banzai fans, I’m surprised we haven’t seen a BB shoutout before… :D

Old Doc’s reference to Abner’s recent poor health may explain my concerns when we first saw him in prison, when to me he seemed to have lost weight and maybe even height since his last crime capers. If the Department of Corrections agent in panel 3 doesn’t tumble to the Buckaroo Banzai reference (“Emilio Lizardo”), he is not aware enough of popular culture! But I guess it is pretty much a done deal that Kadaver and his outside friends will pull off this old escape-by-faked-death ploy.

Was kind of hoping they’re going to bring back Moon Maiden and all the rest of that group.

I realize that the hat on the guy in the last panel says “Doc”. But it is not short for Doctor but for Department of Corrections. We have seen others in the prison wearing the same initials.

not TOO suspicious huh? kadaver is wheeled into autopsy or wherever “Doc” is and right outside is the crematorium delivery person?

Cheap shot from the Cheapskate!.I see Li’l Abner’s going to the dogs..His first trick is, roll over and play dead!.Hey, I said it was a cheap shot!.Neil Wick: I like your analysis yesterday that Melies is a Brit! For how many years were we served a certain Jean-Luc Picard who spoke an almost stuffy British accent?.Heck, now, it’s locked in! When Melies speaks, I hear Patrick Stewart!.And this fake death scene is pretty much the scene I imagined when we still held out hope that Mysta had survived the car bomb. Crooked doctor (as opposed to this incompetent one) (on second thought, there is a difference?) but the same general idea: A badly injured, but still alive Mysta smuggled out from under the coroner’s nose!.That said, there have been a few one-liners pining away for some more moon stuff. Probably, no one out there wants that more than me!.But, all done and said, let’s give it a rest for now. We’ve had plenty of teasers; the moon stuff will be back when Mike and Joe are ready!.And now, back to my vacation!

Oh, yeah – and someone said that maybe Venus is a certain Mrs. Jones! Interesting possibility. So far, the Go Comics colorist, who never has a clue, anyway, has even less of a clue as to Venus’ color – she has yet to appear in a Sunday panel!.I like the thought that Venus might be Stilleta in disguise!.But we don’t know that for now..And now, back to my vacation!

I’m happy for Abner. He was just dying to see the Lizardo Crematorium.

Whew! For a moment I thought Abner was really dead. I’d hate to see him ‘written out’ of the strip.

Actually, boys and girls, they had Abner incarcerated in Florida. Same prison where two murders were allowed to walk out. So I can certainly believe this one. And, as far as SKJAM notes, the PC folks there have turned the Autopsy Lab into some feel-good activity room for the poor inmates who had unhappy childhoods.

The autopsy reality is a little hard to overlook. Everyone knows one would be done. But then, the script also has people from the moon and a space ship that made it to Jupiter in less than a day.

I like the character of the prison doctor. He obviously has a unique personality. Because of this, I believe that this is not the last time we see him in the strip.

stilldamatt… does “Doc” look anything like Joe Staton? I dont recall what Mr. S looks like but I thought this character resembled him from the quick view i had of staton prior

Well, less hair, but whiter.

We’re back to what it was like before the Moon Maid story. 35-55 comments a day, and about half of them coming from people who the gocomics admins have gotten to know quite well. I don’t mean this to call anyone out, just saying it’s amazing how much feedback and fan excitement the space/moon story generated. I know it did for me. Now that we’re moving on to other stories, I’ll keep reading, but I have to agree with others that I hope we get back to Mysta and the moon people real soon. Just being honest when I say my emotional involvement in the story went through the roof for the Moon Maid saga, and I’m sure it will do so again when we get back to it.

i GOTTA have a sense of humor when dealing with you stilldamatt… otherwise it would result in city-wide carnage! :)

Hey, speaking of moon stuff. If they DO realize some day Sail and Ghote ended up flying past Mars and to Jupiter, they’ll be in history books as “first to…” space pioneers, lol.

Uh-oh, Abner’s escaping…..good thing no good guys are allowed to be killed off. But that’s ok….as long as he takes out takes out a certain bad guy bad guy it’s all good!

RWM, whether or not you are my good friend Otto, it matters not to me! What it does show is SDM, and all his aliases, dig deep! Most people on the internet chose to remain anonymous to give them protection from creepy people. And some people use every tool available to crack that secrecy. And to Tim, I have to apologize to you for stilldamatt calling you a troll ay least twice today. Some folks have no class, and the namecallers head the list!
