Well, his musical tastes are definitely eclectic. I can relate, since mine are eclectic, too, but mine include music from the 30s, 30 years before I was born. I believe him when he rhymes those few off.
Crazy as it sounds, I can see Tracy liking The Talking Heads. He shares that kind of mindset with David Byrne, sort of an intellectual rock thing. And hey, they are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I can agree with Tracy’s choice of movie; Blade Runner is among my top ten. And I understand and respect his choices in music; although none of those three is actually among my top favorites, all are ones I deem respectable and worthy of listening to from time to time. What is really striking to me, however, is how much Tracy is identifying himself as a creature of the 1980s….
Now I get it…Christmas Early is setting Dick up for the next surprise guest. He didn’t mention his own daughter-in-law! Slight embarrassment on camera!
For some reason, I expected Tracy’s musical favorities to include Steely Dan (very cerebral pop/jazz) and Bruce Springstten and his favorite movie to either be Casablanca or It’s a Wonderful Life. Corny, but consistent with his all-American persona.
I’m assuming that the author is giving us a look into his own cd and dvd collection; for some reason these don’t really seem to “fit” Dick Tracy in my opinion. I’m also a bit surprised at the sort of softball questions being lobbed Tracy’s way.
As for why he didn’t mention this or that musical act, he did say that he was naming three that “come to mind.” By no means is it implied that it’s an exhaustive list of all his favourite musical acts.
matty, you dont REALLY think nobody here knows who you are trying to talk aboput without mentioning his name do ya? isnt it for reasons like this that you got in trouble before?

I’ve been thinking, if Honeymoon Tracy hits puberty, do you think her Lunarian horns will fully grow and she’ll fully gain Lunarian powers?
Baarorso about 11 years ago
For his favorite movie, I’d have said that he’d mentioned a certain detective flick released by Disney in 1990 starring Warren Beatty.;-D

Blade runner is a favourite movie of mine, too. And maybe Tracy’s stated preference will give Kadaver ideas…

BTW, a really good introduction to Warren Zevon is “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead”, or perhaps the live album “Learning to Flinch”

I didn’t think Tracy ever relaxed enough to listen to music.
I guess his fascination with Spike Dyke has ended.

He could have named Breathless Mahoney as a favorite musician, in reference to the Beatty movie and the 1980s.
