It’s clobberin’ time! Gertie was smart to use the mic stand. Sparkle’s guitar would have fallen to pieces. Yes, Measles learned a hard lesson about the hospitality of Sunny Dell Acres: hot coals and sharp ax. He left through the window. Tabby has no such option. Grandpa Jones sang “Turn Your Radio On” (Albert Brumley), but I think Gertie just turned out the lights. Klonk!
Aye, Angus ye must be new to the villian game – did ye no see that one a-comin’? (Of course, somewhere radio listeners are on the edge of their seats…)
I’m still not sure why this standoff is taking place, but I do like today’s action. It’s always fun to watch the supporting characters take charge. Sam has been really cool under the “new” team.
It does seem a bit odd that no detective work was required to prove Angus’s crimes or track him down; he just went out to a radio station and took a hostage. Bit of a deus ex machina if you ask me, unless he’s pulling a “Loki” and getting himself arrested on purpose for some reason.
Gweedo, look at that studio – it’s pretty crowded, what with two cops, the killer, two hostages, a pair of guitars and a microphone. And all that in three panels.Only Plastic Man (and Mr. Fantastic, and Elongated Man, and – never mind) could throw a punch over that crowd.
This is a really bizarre continuity at the moment; why on earth did Angus commit such an obvious series of crimes with so many witnesses around? Great risk but little reward.
I hope and pray that scripting duties here have not fallen to George Lucas, as the writing in this story arc would suggest.
Never turn your back on the Winter Queen when you’ve threatened her family, Scotty. Gertie has dealt a blow for law and order on the oldtime radio show. Now Tracy and Sam can get on with their part of the job, while Sparkle calms Gertie….
Can someone refresh me on why Tabby Angus rode out to Joe Montana’s radio station and got himself on the air? And why is the engineer at the station apparently continuing the “live” broadcast of the current interruption?
I knew Gertie would do something like that.I saw the look in here eyes the day beforewhen Angus had her and Sparkle at gunpointwhen Sam and Tracy walked in on them.

Love it when Gertie takes charge, like the time she took an ax to Measles’ shoulder. Not exactly an ideal hostage, huh, Angus?

I bet Montana Joe’s going to have his highest ratings ever. And it’s while he’s unconscious.
