Boy, a lot of rimshots, there! All the great comedy teams, and a bit of Vaudeville, to boot! – In “Luann Againn”, Lu’s always leaving the door open for Brad to hit her with a “zinger”, and always walking into a wisecrack, leaving herself open… perhaps we’re seeing now the culmination of such, as she’s learned how to parlay that into a “spontaneous routine”… -A lot of teams with the good “set up and punch” routine: WC Fields and Mae West, George Burns and Gracie Allen, the Marx Brothers, the Smothers Brothers, Carol Burnett and friends…. even Barb Streissand got into it on “What’s Up, Doc?” and “Funny Girl”, itself being a take on the “Ziegfield Follies”. I guess this is saying they have “chemistry”….

So this is the fun they were craving to have in the prop room. Well at least they’re keeping it clean. Maybe she should try a belly dance instead of a ballet dance. Today’s crowd’s tough to please.

Some where in my memory bank I think it was MIlton Beryl…but that is only a guess as I think I remember it pre-dating Shelly Berman whom I loved. Boy we are sure dating ourselves!

Where are they changing clothes? Yesterday Lu was wearing a dress and Quill seemed to be wearing tights…

I believe it was Winston Churchill who was in a restaurant one night, called the waiter over and said "Would you ask the band leader if they play requests? The waiter went over, spoke to the band leader and returned, saying that yes, for such a distinguished person as Mr. Churchill, they would endeavor (excuse me, endeavour) to play whatever he requested.Mr. Churchill handed the waiter a ten-pound note and said: “Ask them to play cribbage until I have finished.”Ba-DUMP bump!
Scott Stevenson over 10 years ago
That was the first thing I thought of when I saw “Yank n’ Oz”.
BTW, they’ve changed clothes twice that we’ve seen. I’ve been in quite a few prop rooms, and they’re usually so full of “stuff” that there isn’t any place to change clothes with any sense of privacy.
flowergirl19 over 10 years ago
Oh, I get it! So Evans is leaving whatever is happening between the costume changes to his readers’ imaginations! What we’re seeing is happening between the “acts!” How cute and clever.
svetlana17 over 10 years ago
None of you have noticed that Luann is wearing her jeans under that tutu. I don’t think their costume changing has been very risqué.
Sisyphos over 10 years ago
OMG! A riotous costume change, and Oz and the Yank continue to entertain us! Well, I hope they don’t get into any serious trouble as a result of this playfulness….

If they’re trying to resurrect Vaudeville, they’ve failed…very badly.

So, what are the thoughts on were this particular arc will end for Q & Lu? Aside from the “will they or won’t they” theory, where else could this particular arc end? While the more obvious signs seem to point towards “they will…. at some point in the future,” I’m thinking something different…. OTWH Lu enjoyed the prospect of entering the “prop” room… OTOH once inside, neither have made any moves, and Lu has responded to Quill with quite a bit of Snark. Either this is a really long foreplay, or something different is going to happen.
Hang in there Argy…. your prayers might be answered just yet…. We’ll see.

Hey….What about Archie? That’s big news at the dinner table. Many of you grew up with him…how about a tribute or a moment of silence for Life With Archie. You know you are getting old when a favorite comic strip character dies…geez…long live Luann.

I remember Quill mentioning a couch. I realize this is a family comic but let’s skip the song and dance and move to the couch. A little heavy kissing won’t corrupt too many young minds.

Hey folks… Looking back a couple of strips for comparison, you will see that they both are wearing pants under their costumes. They are likely just putting on the costumes over their street clothes.

“Don’t know much about history…”-—————————————————Where’d two modern teenagers (one of them a foreigner) learn about vaudeville?I only really know about it from mash-ups like " Firesign Theater " when I was a teenager, and the fact that the some of the older performers were still alive and doing routines on TV shows my parents watched in the early 60s (Ancient History for today’s youngsters).I can’t picture Quill and Lu spending their YouTube time watching Henny Youngman .

“He “died” as an adult. The eternal teenager still lives on”*JPWhz – Actually, the “eternal teenager” was Dick Clark, and he did die. Also Kasey Kasum. Is “teenage culture” silent because 1) there now is none or 2) we’re too old to see it?

I suppose we’re in for two more days of this. Then they will have finished their four plays.

-There are lots of political buttons being pushed-To tell you the truth, the political stuff won’t do a thing to reduce the shock value of eliminating a ‘main character’ from our childhood memories. This is the equivalent of letting the Big Bad Wolf kill Little Red Riding Hood, or some such.
flowergirl19 over 10 years ago
“. . . but simply putting costumes on over what they were already wearing.”
Have you ever put on tights? It’s not that easy getting tights on over bare legs, much less over jeans. Just a thought :P

“Pretty clear from yesterday that they had done nothing with Luann’s sad comment in Panel 2.”
Yes, but that was yesterday. Then they changed costumes . . . (Do you mean panel 3, the burrito comment?)
flowergirl19 over 10 years ago
Your list of scenarios is really funny. I didn’t know who Lindy Lewis was either, but I see the question’s been asked and answered.
flowergirl19 over 10 years ago
You made me laugh out loud! Hahaha!
jkgocomix over 10 years ago
the middle panel is all about Quill’s burrito gas (silent but deadly) – nothing kills a romantic mood quicker than breaking an ill wind – maybe there’s an air freshener in the prop box?
Argy.Bargy2 over 10 years ago
Big changes at Mickey D’s place, I guess! Not being a regular at any fast food eatery, though, I never grew up with the idea of Ronald McDonald as a childhood icon. Still think of Archie, Superman and Lone Ranger when I think of heroes to a comic-reader way bach then.
I don’t grind my own burger meat, but when I eat burgers, I use meat from grass fed cows. Have to avoid all the other stuff, given my medical issues. (And yes, I can eat beef, as long as it isn’t full of fat, antibiotics, hormones and corn. Kosher, if possible, is good.)

“WHAT TIGHTS?”
It’s really hard to tell what he was wearing, but a couple of people mentioned that it looked like he was wearing tights. But yeah, he probably pulled those breeches up over his pants.
Meh~tdology, fka Pepelaputr over 10 years ago
Luann isn’t wearing tights, she and Quill are still wearing the same pants they had on from Monday’s strip, although Lu’s top is decidedly different.

“More in particular Lindy and Shannon used to be linked…”^Yes, true… the reason that I didn’t bring that part out (at the time I was responding) was that I didn’t want to get into the whole discussion about it, then… due to the nature of what (similar to what you are describing) subsequently results from it… I wasn’t able at the time to go through the whole process of the “connection/non-connection” to "the current ’Shannon Daytona vs. the Shannon and Lindy Lewis puzzle… mostly because I had to “speed through” the thread at the time… so I felt it sufficient to give the most concise answer I could then… and hoped to respond further later. However, you have sufficiently done so… Thanks!….
JayBluE over 10 years ago
Don’t forget that they laid Grimmace and “Birdie the Early Bird” off, along with Mayor McCheese. The Fry Guys are barely holding on, as they are now facilities engineers (janitors) at Hamburger U….– The Hamburglar got 5-10… cents, that is…. for his residuals, so he “retired”….
JayBluE over 10 years ago
That is…part of it… but it’s the younger demo that’s not “flocking to it” as they had hoped, when they launched the “Married Life” title, and when they went with a new artist to “update” the characters’ look (they simultaneously have more than one “look” for each character, due to there being more than one artist who works on a particular title/issue/series/publication). Fernando Ruiz and Dan Parent are among the current artists depicting Archie comics….
