    PSA Alert! -

    “Why is the strip ending?” It’s NOT !!! – Please click on this link to find out why it’s not! (from Greg Evans Q&A seminar around the time of the Reuben awards from earlier this year [5/23]). This interview seminar answers all questions, including the future of the strip (ncluding the mention of new characters , which is one reason why there are several exits this year), and also fun answers to why their heads were so big….

    we = Delta and Luann, so I don’t see anything wrong in principle of them saying it that way, even if Bernice is there, as Lue was speaking “more toward Delta”, she could have easily said(if she was speaking more toward Bernice) “remember when Delta and I kidnapped you? you were so mad” even thought Delta is there

    Because people new to the strip, or who haven’t read it in some time, wouldn’t know who she was talking to. BTW, I’m one of the people who hasn’t read it in years. What DID happen with Aaron, anyway?

    Bernice would still be able to see the increasingly intrusive advertisements on gocomics.com. Do Pro members purchase the privilege of getting rid of these?

    HA HA HA HA HA, Good Times!

    Hey Bern and Delta?

    Remember the Time You Two took a Road Trip WITHOUT Luann because You Thought She was Such a Pain in the Butt and You ended up Getting Lost Driving the Wrong Way down the Street and Darn Near Plowed into a School Bus and Gas Tanker? LOL!!!!

    Huh? You Don’t??

    Well Luann, Remember the Time Delta laid a Guilt Trip on You and Bern Forcing You Clean up the Street in a Rough Neighborhood and You found 100K in Burlap Bag hidden under some trash and You Thought You were SET for LIFE, but Delta Made You Turn it over to the Authorities Because She Said it was the “Right Thing to Do” and the Positive Publicity would one Day Help Her “Politically” and Ya’ll Got Mad and Wouldn’t SPEAK to Her for a Month?

    ROFL (SNORT!!!!!)

    NO?!?

    Well Surely You Remember when……,

    It’s seeming more and more like the strip is ending…..I guess time will tell, but we need a wedding, and we need TJ to not have committed arson, and be exonerated.. Lynn finished FBFW with a wedding, and Cathy ended with a lot of flashbacks, and finally, a pregnancy…similar pattern, here.

    Am I the only one who couldn’t care less about these girls trip down memory lane. It’s like sitting at a table with a bunch of friends who haven’t seen each other for years and constantly bring up memories that you had nothing to do with.

    Regarding point # 1 – the stubborn assumption by many (not you, but others) that Karen writes and Greg draws is too black and white.

    Maybe they will all get together during Christmas break. That is something to look forward to. Oh, did I say Christmas break? Oh, excuse me, Holiday break. Mmm, uh, oh! WINTER break. What, you don’t believe in winter?~No matter what one calls it, I’m looking forward to the multi holidays’ fall and winter season to see if Greg reunites the group of friends.

    long-winded response to yesterday’s post:

    TORAD_07 said, about 16 hours ago

    @Sheriff Mordecai

    I can assure you there are several weeks of work in the pipeline.

    So, Sheriff, any comment on that thought (in Monday’s comments) on who does the coloring for the strip?

    ===========

    Evans set up coloring preferences for his Sunday strips years ago with American Color in Buffalo, NY (now defunct and buried under a couple of successive buyouts – vestiges remain under the giant QuadGraphics). Daily color specs were built off the Sunday palette.

    I am now an independent contractor, a former employee of American Color (not as a colorist, though), who complements the in-house colorists at Universal.

    I do not know how many work directly for Universal nor do I know any of the other freelance colorists. We could be scattered all over the world. The Internet as been a great leveler for such opportunities.

    I color six daily strips as part of my freelance gamut.Greg briefly alludes to coloring duties in his Reuben seminar talk. I am the “is Frank here?” who was not in the room that day. Had my daughter not chosen to get married last May 24, I would have certainly been in attendance. Was looking forward to dinner on the deck of an aircraft carrier with the rest of the NCS.

    Recently, I have upgraded the coloring process for Greg with gradients and other touches because it is becoming a more sophisticated product, and the look should reflect a higher standard. But on a personal level, Greg is a top level pro and really cares about his work – how can I approach it any other way?

    The green shorts? Just an arbitrary pick. Different day, probably a different hue.

    And that leads me to another point: the difficulties of color consistency. If a colorist does not follow the story, he/she is going to stumble badly, especially regarding clothing colors that are not spec’d out. Well, Toni and Brad’s blue/grey combo is in the spec, but no others. I do my best to maintain color consistency when it is obvious that the characters would not have changed their clothes, but we have only so much time to spend on each strip. Our vigilant readers catch EVERYthing, or so it seems. I keep reference strips for Weenie World colors, firetruck colors and a few other not-so-often recurring items within reach, but there is no database to tell me what color Luann’s or Brad’s car is. At best I remember the detail or can quickly locate it in the archives, but it’s a far from perfect process.

    So that’s my ramble.

    Here is a question for anyone in the know. Will Luann have a birthday celebration this year? She should have one when she turns legal eighteen.

    I’m hoping her 18th birthday will be acknowledged, somehow. Because I think it would be interesting to see her face off with Frank & Nancy about the “house rules” while still living in the house, even though she’d be “legal” :-P One of the reasons why, I believe, she’s going to Pitts CC (has to stay at home) vs. Mooney Uni (where she could live on campus and bypass those “rules”). Might have some good “sparks flying” potential. :-)

    I know I haven’t been reading the strip as long as you, but I see Brad as more mature than when I first started following all this. The fact that he became suspicious about the fire in the food truck is evidence, for me, that Brad no longer blindly accepts whatever TJ says…

    Welcome to another edition of Luann Helper . A thin, plot filler gruel in the fashion of the weeks of Fo-getty reminiscences (I feel for future purchasers of book editions of these reprints).Let’s get on to Puddles meeting his end like Farley in “For Better or for Worse” .

    Levi – you are such a detailed chronicler of Luann plotlines, can’t you help out Sheriff? (see his “long-winded response” above). He obviously needs someone with your organizational skills to set up a databank/catalog of colors— so each of Lu’s shirts has a numbered color, swimming pool sides have a numbered color, cars have numbered colors, etc. Though of course, that would take out half the fun for us nitpickers.

    “People asking if the strip is ending will happen everytime Evans does these character flashback strips, "^True, but it also happens any other time, too. Any major event, it seems. In fact, it happened last week during the “We Didn’t Start The Fire” arc, which was the past two weeks.
