Our Scout Troop did fund raising Christmas tree recycling in an area similar to this. The city gave us door hanger with our phone number and email address to arrange a pickup. We spent a Saturday driving around the neighborhood and putting them on doors. Just as we were finishing up, a resident drove up in her car and began yelling at me and one of my Scouts for being criminals, casing the area, and threatening to call the Police. When I explained that we were with Scouts, and this was the tree recycle, she just demanded to know why we hadn’t picked up any trees that day. I explained that since it was only Dec 15, it was too early to pick trees up. I added, why would we put on Scout uniforms if we were criminals? There were about twenty of us walking around that day and we had done it for about ten years, so I’m surprised she hadn’t seen up before. Her husband was in the passenger seat looking embarrassed.
