Wow that’s new… I don’t think Calvinball has time outs for legal stuff. *If this is how it’s going to be, maybe the name of the game should be changed to Lawyerball; with 10 yard penalties for each Subpoena or restraining order served per team.

I can think of a few referees who should be restrained.

When they tackle each other and cause concussions, who do they sue? Each other? Nope, they sue the NFL because the league didn’t warn them.

I heard somewhere that the average time that’s actually played in a football game is 11 minutes.

The way the Eagles beat the Giants this past Sunday was almost criminal.

Will there ever come a day when colleges and universities court science and engineering students like they do for useless sports that achieve nothing to benefit humanity other than “I kicked dat ball! I kicked it gud, Den I blocked a kick!” so give me a convertible!

The next superbowl commercial will be a Public Announcement concerning a committee created by the government to protect the team owners for any liability of the injuries incurred for our entertainment.

Some local people here in my town went on a crime spree, and it got so bad a football game broke out.

Wrong comparison. Compare the amount of domestic violence (which there has been an enormous amount kept under wraps over the years) in the NFL with other corporations rather than “the general public”. NFL players are part of the general public, too, you know.

We all know about the “Quarterback Sneak” play. It looks like #66 is trying to invent the “Right tackle” sneak play in Wiley’s wonderful drawing. Cheez it, the cops!

I thought that was the reason Seattle’s stadium was nicknamed the CLink. So many players are going to the clink anyway, they should feel right at home.

and @Wiley-The inevitable happened in a football town recently, where the high school team is not allowed to play for a full year at least, and consideration is being given to disbanding the program. Why? Because the long acceptance of violence among the team members resulted in a hazing program where the freshmen team members were hazed by being sodomized. The frosh were so afraid of attacks that they weren’t using the locker room to change clothes. Yet no coach, no teacher, seemed to notice.-And those defending the ‘alleged’ attackers are explaining that they thought it was ok, because it was done to them and no one ever said a word.-Do THOSE results surprise you? They shouldn’t….

I stopped watching sports altogether because of the wasted time. Even school games have become commercialised with very little sportsmanship displayed to the opposing teams.

Common in Texas and the south to hold grade schoolers with football potential back so they’re bigger when entering high school. That culture of the game and violence by “big vs small” carries over into the “fan” culture with lots of abuse by folks never on the field after high school, just overweight beer guzzlers who enjoy a good game of kick the kids, or spouse, as a way to “stay in the game”.

Rugby and soccer btw, they don’t wear all the “protective gear”, and the collisions are lower speed by the nature of the game, so injuries to players are much less critical, a cut over the eye that is superficial due to contact isn’t as traumatic as slamming the brain around inside the skull, like well, a kicked football.
