Blowing up the theater is showy, but seems a bit excessive. Gruesome didn’t necessarily know he’d require an escape distraction. Does he always allow for such contingencies?
And who’s that on stage as the set crumbles around them?
Vitamin?
Kandikane and Tess are in the audience, and I’d imagine Gruesome would make a run for it out the back rather than through a panicked crowd. Hostage crisis averted?
Think Lizz will leave her post outside to investigate the big bang?
That should allow Gruesome a relatively unobstructed path to obtain a getaway vehicle, be it the one driven by Dr. Einstein or a certain X-Mas Tree-laden “Van” which might be nearby.
Will Gruesome add carjacking to his long list of crimes?
I hope my buddy Vitamin is not injured in the blast! Perhaps he will save the day and trip Gruesome as he attempts to escape… and Kandikane will smother Vitamin with affection!
The MCU flummoxed again ! Really ‘good thinking’ by the Writer, for what better way to make an escape than during a major distraction/confusion ?
Just when you thought the MCU were finally back ‘up to speed’ - even police reserves called in as a precaution (and - “right outside”) The unexpected occurs !
Nov. 30: “Oh, I’ll finish tonight’s performance. It’ll be a show-stopper, I promise!” It looks like this is the second story in a row with an explosive finish. Nothing wrong with that!
I’ve seen walk-outs before, but this production of Arsenic and Old Lace has ‘em running for the exits. Glad to see Tess and Kandikane are safe, but Tracy, Sam and Vitamin were in harm’s way when the play came to an explosive end. More of the good stuff from Team Tracy!
Gruesome does not seem like the suicide type. And he knows his ride is waiting. I don’t think he intended for those on stage to die (maybe backstage, though).
I was glad to see the link for the 10/29/10 strip ( wish I had time to waste finding it). It was a good reminder of how cruel and disrespectful some people are.
Well, I think it’s official now..There has been more murder and mayhem during this (relatively) short arc that most of us thought was going to be little more than “comic relief” (between more serious arcs)..Too bad the Nitrates were fashionably late for this show!
Well, that’ll teach us for thinking Gruesome was caught up in acting… He was just stalling for time.If he put the explosive behind the set (with it’s staircase and balcony), that would cause plenty of chaos without endangering himself too much. This is one of those shows that are “One Night Only!”
Well, this was obviously Gruesome’s long planned little “payback” after having to wait so long for his money, so I’m sure he made it a point not to be too close to the explosives….and thus Sam and Tracy, by also being in his presence, should be fine. As for Vitamin…….hey, it’s been a good career move for many, lol.
It’s really good to see a villain with real brains who stays a step ahead of the MCU. He is going to give them a good run for their money, but I suspect he will escape this one to become a recurring problem for them.
Wow! That’s one play the audience will never forget attending!
Although everyone out front would seem to have survived, I worry for those who were backstage, such as the stage manager (the guy in the headphones we’ve seen a few times), stagehands, and any cast member who wasn’t on stage at the moment of the blast. Also, what about Lizz, if she was near the stage (i.e., back) door? A lot would depend on the directionality of the blast, but it’s not clear whether Gruesome cared much about that or knew much about the fine art of demolitions….

Reminds me of when the Brother of Flattop, who tried to kill Dick Tracy by blowing up Tracy’s house as an act of revenge for the death his brother.
