Zing! went the bullet! Anja Nu is ignoring the fact that one of the actors is lying dead on the stage. The Blank tells Tracy to hold still so he can shoot him while the entire police force watches from the audience. This is beginning to become hard to believe!

Considering that all Tracy ever does is stand around, getting him to hold still shouldn’t be that much of a challenge.

Clang, clang, clang went the trolley Ding, ding, ding went the bell Zing, zing, zing went the bullets Thud, thud, thud went the actors…

And as I predicted, no blood on Tracy’s hand. Maybe he wiped it off while running by that curtain in panel 2.

Tracy doesn’t stay on script Man, he really is such a dip And bullets go zinging by oh so fast As The Blank tries to shoot his bleeep Law enforcement fills the crowd Or Tracy they are really proud Their local boy is a star If he lives he may go far But he just ups and runs away So he can act another day And everything that has past before Like the body and the blood on the floor And the cries of dowager queen Might as well have never been The strip has run its course Filling us all with remorse.

    All systems overloaded.

The audience is full of cops, at least some of which should still have their service guns on them—- Dick Tracy didn’t detect something was wrong with this from the start (somebody throwing a brick with a note through your window is usually a BIG clue) and director lady is more concerned with the script than the fact that somebody has been killed and somebody else is doing the killing— live, on stage no less.

Oh, come on! True, nothing big happens in Naperville, but if something like this happened in front of an audience filled with cops, after the first shot was fired and it became apparent that the Blank’s gun was firing real bullets he’d have to face real cops with real guns of their own— aimed at him. Once they realized he was trying to kill one of their own, they would go through standard police procedures up to and including——- well, killing a cop is not the way to live long and prosper.

Just yesterday the Blank was holding the gun in his right hand.

I’m still stuck on how they went from a rehearsal to a full theatrical presentation - time warp maybe? That would be as believable as this plot. Just how long has Tracy been in that museum now, anyway?

LOA is light-years ahead of this strip in both writing and artwork, and it’s being canceled. How many papers can possibly be running this dreck?

All other comments are right on target. No logic at all. And once again, Tracy is running. From a giant robot, from a clown, and now from a gun toting killer. On stage. In public. With, as we have all pointed out in today’s or previous comments, AN AUDIENCE FULL OF POLICE!!!

THE NEW DICK TRACY ACTION RUNNING FIGURE !

Minstrel (singing): “Brave Sir Dicky ran away Sir Dicky: “No” ! Minstrel (singing): Bravely ran away He said, returning to fight another day” Sir Dicky: “I didn’t” ! Minstrel (singing): “When danger reared it’s ugly head, he bravely turned his head and fled ! Sir Dicky: “I never did” ! Minstrel (singing) : “Yes, Brave Sir Dicky turned about, and valiantly chickened out” ! Sir Dicky: “Oh, you liar” ! Minstrel (singing): “Quickly kicking with his feet, he beat a hasty brave retreat. A feat a little ‘tricky’ by Sir Dicky”. Sir Dicky: “Yee Gods ! - You’re a liar”. Minstrel (singing): “With adversary down upon his seat, pumping heart, a skip, a beat, then bravely found a submarine retreat” Sir Dicky: “Liar ! We will censor you ” ! Minstrel (singing): “Stricken with his FEAR and pain, he felt the need to HIDE again, no worrying about his former fame, cowering in the ‘cockpit’ of a plane”. Sir Dicky: “O.K. ask the Author he’s the one that can explain” -(while thinking): “Although he might admit * — * this whole story’s rather lame !

(with a touch of plagiarism of course ;)

Plagiarism has its place, Sidney, along with a little larceny to add spice to life. At least Dick hasn’t yelled, “EEEK” yet. But hey, if you didn’t have a real gun and someone was shooting real bullets at you, the smartest thing to do is run (“Serpentine, serpentine!!!”). I’d cut Dick a little slack on this one. Nancy Pelosi, now…that’s a different story! “Stick to the script”? Good Lord!

You’re right; it may be the clown from that circus. Otherwise, why would Johnny Nothing be aiming for Tracy’s buttox??? And whatever happened to that sign that was on DT’s front lawn?

’… TURNS OUT TO BE THE CLOWN FROM THE CIRCUS ?”

That’s a growing problem with Locher as a writer, he’s dispayed a tendancy to ’RECYCLE’ earlier events …

See the Al Kinda death scene on the US flag and note how similar it was to that of the Brow (1944) http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2006/08/20/

And see the near ‘copy cat’ death of Queenie falling into a fiery smoke stack like Ugly Cristine did in the Mr.Bribery story ; http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2007/04/29/

I hope I’m wrong, but the Disney DT movie varied from the original strip and had Breathless behind the Blank’s mask. Collins would repeat the same gimmick in a 1990 strip - Tracy then acting in a Hollywood film - with Haf and Haff behind the mask.

Locher has already portrayed the current one telling himself he’s the original Blank’s “Grandson”, but he may have forgotten by the next day and is now actively ‘thinking up’ a fresh surprise for the end.

@ btmosley–This actually goes back to my earlier post suggesting the Science Museum was built with TARDIS technology (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) borrowed from Dr. Who.

The Science Museum is big-little-big-little…inside, an introductory rehearsal becomes a full-blown performance in what seems to be seconds…Time and Space are irrelevant!

    dt’s detection skills on display.

actually “He trying to kill me!” is probably part of the script because it would take tracy at least 10 days to figure it out on his own.

When the bit actor was first shot, Anja Nu called out “Stop the show!” Now she is telling DT to follow the script. Does she want to stop the show or carry on despite someone being shot?

    What a stupid comic!

Totally unbelievable! In panel 1, we have Anja Nu completely ignoring the dead actor on the stage and commanding Tracy to follow the script. Panel 2 we have Dick Tracy skidding/sliding/running/ice skating/dancing across the stage. And in panel 3, The Blank tells Tracy to hold still so he can kill him!

While the entire police dept. is in the audience watching!

If there was a Crimestoppers Textbook for killing someone, it’d tell you to kill them in front of as many policemen as possible.
