Leo, you’re not going to have a good Father’s Day.-Happy Father’s Day, especially to my Dad.

Whatever happened to Drew’s secret she was going to tell Alex?

Funny that before Trudeau’s early 80s hiatus, Doonesbury was the kind of comic where everybody stayed perpetually the same age.

New content only on Sundays means the characters age in skips.

With the time skip, Trudeau missed a lot of potentially good material: the first tantrum, the first lamp pulled off of the table, the Terrible Twos, the first “NO!”, the first “Why?”, the first sibling rivalry and of course, the first “Why did we ever have children?”

Jeez. This is the first time as far as I know that Trudeau has ever given any of his characters a major case of SORAS, also known as Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome. All other characters have either aged realistically or too slowly. Never too fast. The closest he ever came to that was with Alex herself, who was being depicted as a full-blown personality with full verbal acuity at the age of about two and a half, but at least she was still shown as being little. And Benjy “Sal” Doonesbury rather rapidly changed from an innocent preteen to a sulky jaded high schooler in a rather short period of time, but it was still plausible.

THIS is not. These kids are only two and a half at most, and yet they seem to be about six.

NOT likin’ this. Slow aging in comic strips is one thing, but fast aging is just too freaky for me.

The blond kid looks like Leo and the Brown hair’d kid looks like his mother.

Time skip, maybe, but WHEN will Alex change her hair?

On the other hand, playing with my 5 month old granddaughter on the beach is guaranteed to bring the women in droves! My daughter said I could borrow the baby anytime I wanted to pick up chicks.

Cute kids. Newborns to about 3. I think GT did address the staying up all night with crying baby stage. They were also deep thinkers as newborns. They knew how to manipulate with crying. Some say that isn’t how it is the kid just really needs you, while others say, no they know how to manipulate.

I have found that in many instances in history, and in some other species, the opposite is true. Truly it is junk science. In any event, shouldn’t Leo’s wife know best whether it’s true in his case?

So, if this much time has passed, I’d like to know how Drew is doing? She always seemed to have a lot going for her.

Trudeau reserves the right to have flashback strips—and I hope he does! I’d like to see the twins as babies. (Of course, time is all over the place in “Doonesbury”: If comics time was real time, Mike should be about 65 and so should Zonker. But which one looks it?)

Sadly, junk science seems to pay much better than the real kind. Mostly due to politics and corporate interests, it seems.

How can Leo be described by his wife as a “new father” when these kids are now this big?

reduced sex drive does not mean absent sex drivenote the lady advertising Viagra on the TV commercial explaining how half of the men over some age or other have a problem with EDMen observing her, realize she just proved we are not in that halfThis should be charged as a public service announcement.(note I included the “l” in public)

Can we send some of that rapid aging to poor Samantha? By my estimate she was born a couple of years after Alex, and was last seen still in high school applying to colleges while Alex was married pregnant and finishing graduate school.

I think that phenomenon has been found among Mamorsets or Tamarinds, not humans. And these kids are looking way past the age where Leo could be considered a “new father.”

Anytime a so called research paper is described as a study it is correct to call it junk science, though I object to the usage of the word science since it is just junk,
