The unsuspecting innocence of summerLong days, movie nights and sudden claps of thunderA time when young girls get to stay up lateEventually they start to talk of boys they want to dateThey could never know or believe in thier wildest dreamsThe evil plans devised by those implementing devious schemesThe chill of summer will soon descend, Lives will change, hearts will need to mendWho will survive to live for another dayThere’s plenty of time to mourn So for now we can let the little girls play.
Blackhearts agents from across the nation are being called in! This sounds like an epic event coming up.
Mysta got some indication of a signal from Honeymoon, but Honeymoon has never been able to read Mysta’s signals, as far as we’ve seen. That doesn’t bode well for what might happen if Mysta gets kidnapped.
So, I guess it’s time for some “girl talk” now, but events involving Diet Smith and Mysta are bound to come up sometime soon. In the meantime, let’s allow the girls some summer vacation chatting.
From what I can determine, Jocko Jackson was a character Annie was with back in October 24, 1943. It looks like The Salt Lake Tribune on Newspapers.com has the comic in it’s archives, but you need to be a member to see it.
Jocko appeared briefly in that story arc back in 1943 but I don’t think Gray ever brought him back again. Earlier, on October 11, 2014, Annie mentioned Huckle Flynn, who was a character during the Leonard Starr years.
And in that arc in 1943, Jocko seemed to be a few years older than Annie, but there was no indication from Harold Gray that there was any romantic attraction between them.
Ya know.. not for nothing but if I really CARED bout annie and her cast of characters at all.. I would have read the strip when it was still active.. i dont need her in the dick tracy strip at all
Briefly: Annie was staying with a husband and wife who ran a store in a small town. For reasons that were not made clear, they went bankrupt and the man “Uncle Spike” got sick. They pretty much lost everything. In typical Harold Gray fashion, all the busybodies in the town talked and talked with their noses in the air, but a group of folks form “Limbo Lake”, which was considered the poor side of town, pitched in and actually did something, building a new home for them in an old mill, and seeing that their needs were met until Uncle Spike was on his feet again. Jocko was one of the Limbo Lake community, and his folks spearheaded the project.
It’s quite nice to see Honeymoon with a true friend one who accepts her as she is, and doesn’t care if she’s a bit different. I personally think that Anne was a good addition to the strip. We have a character who we know and trust from long experience (Even though I never read the strip as well.)
I do hope our two members of the community is now doing better.

Comic strips can have some effect on a person. Watching Annie getting together all that food made me hungry so I made myself a peanut butter sandwich. Reminds me of that kid “Peanut Butter” back in a Tracy story in 1972. He had a crush on Moon Maid that annoyed Junior. Funny how all this stuff can come together in your mind.

This Jocko character might not have ever been mentioned in the Annie strip. It’s hard to say. What about “Limbo Lane”?

As cute as Honeymoon has always been, she’s growing up into a really attractive young lady- positively electrifying! (Ha-ha!)

I think you are confusing things here.
Michael Jackson’s pet chimp was named Bubbles and he was nicknamed ‘Wacko Jacko’.
Now there is a Mark “Jacko” Jackson who was a Australian rules footballer that was in some Energizer commercials.
Then there is Robin Jackson who was nicknmaked Jacko as well as The Jackal.
So who knows WHAT this is referencing?
There is also a An Inspector ‘Jacko’ Jackson Mystery series by Frank Palmer in the 1990s

Looks like “Annie” might be prepping to make a “Dagwood” today.

In 1943. And still a boy? At which fountain of youth did he drink? Not to mention that Honeymoon born in 1965 would be a round fifty!

I see that Mike has Honeymoon saying “Limbo Lane”, but I just checked, and the original story was “Limbo Lake”

Isn’t “Limbo LANE” shorthand for where comic strip characters go when their comic is ended? Is Mike getting all Grant Morrison on us?
Annie’s remark of “Years Ago”? She’s only 12 for goodness sakes! More Meta-Textual references?

I’m surprised no one suggested that Limbo Lane is a sibling of Kandikane Lane. Or Margot. Or Lois

It’s dangerous to walk around the house barefooted. Annie needs to put on a pair of official MCU slippers!
