It’s ‘The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight’ all over again!
Is there such a thing as ‘Friendly Fire’ here?
[… given that everyone seems intent on rubbing everyone else out.]
Look out, Joe. Relook at panel 2 and Double-up’ “sillo”. Doesn’t that look like a certain Marvel hero’s shadow? Stan might get upset if he thinks you are comparing Double-Up to a certain Avenger.
I’m betting that DoubleUp goes down (but not permanently), and Blaze picks up his whip to protect Honeymoon and Annie.Hence the foreshadowing: when DoubleUp and Blaze were talking about whips while in the car looking for Jimmy Choo Shooz. (Hmmm… Chekov’s bullwhip?)
Gweedo, yesterday you said you wished Bea Arthur and Lucille Ball had worked together. They did, co-starring in the movie musical “Mame,” back in 1974. It had to be one of the worst musicals ever made (I saw it, and still wake up in cold sweats) . By then, Lucy’s speaking voice was raspy and hoarse, and her singing voice was non-existent. I honestly think the producers chose Bea Arthur as her co-star because her deep, flat voice wouldn’t make Lucy’s voice sound too bad in comparison.(With all due respect, when they sang together, it was like dueling bullfrogs.)Amazing to think the producers picked Lucy over Angela Lansbury, who was already a name in movies and had starred in “Mame” on Broadway.
Six shots, but I see only 5 BLAMS. I guess the elevator door “ding” makes up for it though. I was correct about them possibly being higher up than the 2nd floor—appears to have stopped on the 3rd. I am not sure about real life, but in the movies, you always see the bullets penetrating the elevator doors & hitting the people inside.
Good morning everyone.-—————-As I stated yesterday: Tracy is too smart to take the elevator. He would use the stairs.-—————-Have a great day my friends.
Some of you were discussing the (outdated) elevator lights above the door indicating the floor the elevator was on. So BB-Eyes’ group is on the 3rd floor – and this particular elevator only goes to the floor 6. (The building is somewhat taller, right?)
I wonder if Venus, Apollo, and Melies (sorry if I spelled his name wrong) are still after Doubleup, Mumbles, and BB Eyes or if they’re all just trying to get out of the building. Hopefully the cops will get to Annie and Honeymoon first.
Third panel: The bullet riddled doors behind the guys would indicate that they actually stepped into the elevator once the doors were opened. If so, that is one huge elevator cage!Even if they did use armor piercing bullets, I would imagine that the thick elevator doors would slow the bullets down enough to minimize damage on the other side – but I don’t know that much about shooting.
Hah! Tracy and the cops outsmarted the gang guns that time! And they have lured them into the elevator car (hence the odd, somewhat forced perspective in panel 3), where they are being surveilled by the elevator security camera, the point of view of which we see in panel 3, and as the MCU tech team can see on the security monitors, thus knowing who and what they are up against….
I’m thinking that someone or more of our group has access to future panels in the strip. It’s not been a “spoiler” for me, but several times they have hit it dead on with their Ouigi Board.
Good morning Gweedo. I told Abner that you made mention of him yesterday and he was pleased. He wants you to drop in for a visit. He’s all aglow these days! The asbestos lining in his coffin has really lit him up!
@GweedoGlad I wasn’t exposed and will keep an ice pick handy for ears and eyes if I ever get compromised.-————————————————————-No need to go take desperate measures, G!A simple garland of garlic around your modem or cable box should keep it away. After I posted the earlier comment, I looked the movie up. It seems Lucy had veto power over the casting. Madeline Kahn, who was so great in Mel Brooks’ movies, was signed for a major role, but Lucy nixed it. (I bet she was afraid of being upstaged.)
This will probably be a repeat of the Mr. Crime take down with BB & company……the real fun will be with Bribery in the air……I have a feeling he may have been put there for a purpose……and end up the way he was supposed to have before; but for real this time…..splat!
I doubt if such an entertaining villain as Bribery would be brought back only to be killed a few weeks later. The boys in the elevator would be wise to ditch their weapons and call their lawyer. “I never saw that gold before in my life, Detective!”
“. . .The boys in the elevator would be wise to ditch their weapons and call their lawyer. “I never saw that gold before in my life, Detective!””-—————————————————————-
@Neil WIckMaybe the elevator is so big so that they can transport things like gold bricks up the building.-—————————————————I’m reminded of some elevators in hospitals which are oversized and have doors on either side. They’d be the size of what BB-Eyes and friends are standing in.
I’m still suspicious about Mr. Bribery never being shown standing or doing his ’I’m a crazy bad guy’ dance. There’s something to it, but I’ve no idea what.
How tall is that Tower?I looked at the three days we saw the Ace Tower (June 14, July 10 and July 12), and none of them showed the building completely, but they all showed it to be about 10 stories. The 10th showed the top seven floors, with an oversized donut around the building at the lowest visible floor. The next panel had the donut at the top, then another floor beneath, and then the 52 gallery.-I would expect them to use the top six floors, and have private elevators to reach then. (You don’t want someone accidentally ending up in one of Mr. Bribery’s board meetings.)The rest would be rented out, just like in the real world.
Ray’s right that a large elevator car would be useful for hauling gold, if it were rated for enough weight.
In one of the “Detective Conan” movies, the characters have plot-necessitated access to a convertible located in a penthouse, so that building at least would seem to have large, hospital or warehouse-style elevators.
[Though it’s possible the convertible had been disassembled and moved piece-by-piece.]

Jim in CT said, about 2 hours agoI’m still suspicious about Mr. Bribery never being shown standing or doing his ’I’m a crazy bad guy’ dance.
I think it’s just a coincidence that he hasn’t been shown standing. Since we know he didn’t really fall through that roof, there’s no reason we know of why he should be particularly injured or disabled. I think it’s just that he has needed to “rule” the gang from his “throne” in the tower. The only time I think it would have been appropriate for him to dance was before we were permitted to see anything more than his hand.
Jim in CT said,I would expect them to use the top six floors …The rest would be rented out, just like in the real world.
It’s my impression that they own the whole building and we’ve been told that apartments for members of the gang are in there too. (It didn’t say that’s who the apartments were for, but it was implied.) I would imagine there are more gang members than the twelve characters that we know.

It would have to be a large elevator to bring up all of that gold. It does not look very luxurious inside. Perhaps it is a freight elevator.

Now the elevator doors will close behind them and the elevator will return to the ground floor where the cops are waiting.
