But it is likely to be left hanging on Saturday. Maybe never to be returned to..There seems a recent (Karen?) perception here that by just chopping a storyline you can create suspense. .But then we are just left suspended.

But will Bernie follow the trajectory of Minnie’s saga?.Folks, here’s a story about Minnie the Moocher She was a lowdown hoochie coocher She was the roughest, toughest frail But Minnie had a heart as big as a whale

Hidee hidee hidee hi Hode hode hode ho Hee dee hee dee hee dee hee A hidee hidee hidee ho

She had a dream about the King of Sweden He gave her things that she was needin’ He gave her a home built of gold and steel A diamond car with platinum wheels

Hidee hidee hidee hidee hidee hidee hi Hodee hodee hodee hodee hodee oh Scurlivou scurlivou scurlivou rlivourlivu Setetetete raburlutu scetete raburlutu toy

He gave her his townhouse and his racing horses Each meal she ate was a dozen courses She had a million dollars worth of nickels and dimes She sat around and counted them all a million times

Hidee hidee hidee hi Hooh whoaa oh oh whoa Hidee hidee hidee hi

As for college couples in the same dorm, back in about 1970 in the Steve Canyon strip, there was a college couple who lived in the dorm, or maybe an apartment, who had a bare mattress on the floor. I cannot remember their names, but his football jersey was #1, and he was short. His girlfriend played on the girls basketball team, was very tall and had long blond hair. The college was Maumee University.

Implausible said, My guess is this ends in a “Did they do something?” choose your own adventure story, similar to Gunther/Tiffany. It’s a huge cop out but I expect nothing less from Karen at this point.*-————————————Yes. This is the Karen era, I fear. . If you look at Luann Againn as it is running now (the Bernice with Derek story-line is going on there) you will see that Greg used to create suspense: What will happen next? .This made you look forward to the next day’s strip. .Now we may see sporadic interpersonal drama, but it is typically chopped off. .THEREFORE, I expect a bit deeper degree of ambiguity on Saturday. .[Then the usual rehashed Dagwood Bumstead stuff on Sunday].Then back to the financing of a warehouse, or something that does not involve Bernice at all, or have any drama to it at all, for that matter.

Gary13 said, @Caldonia @Implausible“And this plotline sure won’t be mentioned next week.”.Sure it will, Caldonia. Even if the Evans’s storyline has skipped to some other concurrent happening, you and IMP will bring this up. Because apparently your minds cannot keep up with multiple events that take place at the same time.-———————————————————Good storytelling is not choppy. .Greg was good at it. One of the best!.Look at Bernice and Derek, some of the Brad and Dirk issues, or TJ and Tiff and the firemen’s meals, the first date between Crystal and Knute, etc. .These all led us to some conclusions. .Concurrent happenings? .Why them? Random? Why?

Bernice tries to live by logic and rules but she is human and that gets shown repeatedly, and its a good thing. To those who want every plot and drama dragged out to its gory finale, I say it is nice to have the groundwork laid and then we use our own imagination; and then we pick back up on it later. It’s also nice that we have many characters, plots and side plots and that they continue while we are not watching. For example, it is clear that Bern sees Piro as a familiar face and didn’t go running off to spend the night w/ Tiffany (out of fear). Obviously that familiarity developed while we were busy with other plots. Ha ha… If Tiffany finds out about this, she will be so jealous.. Bern has tried to push him off to her but Piro doesn’t seem interested. I think Piro (like everyone else) wants real friendship in a woman not someone who comes across in a sexual manner on first meeting. That IS threatening

-Doormats deserved whatever treatment they accept.

You couldn’t be more wrong with that statement. We just had a case in Central Florida where a ‘persecuting’ attorney (State Prosecutor) and a so-called ‘judge’ had an abused wife charged with contempt of court and thrown in jail for 3 days, because she didn’t show up at the hearing where her abusive husband was charged with the crime.

The abused wife had repeatedly pleaded with the persecuting attorney not to charge her husband, because she was terrified of him, and because they had gone through this before and nothing good had come of it. The woman was so scared that she had moved from her home (with her 1 year old baby) and was living with her parents.

Despite the fact that she had told the Persecuting Attorney that she didn’t want to proceed, he and the judge went ahead and had a jury trial set up. When the survivor of abuse didn’t show up to testify, the Persecutor had her charged with contempt.

She faced a screaming beast of a judge that was no better than the abusive husband, who accused the survivor of making the story up and not caring about ‘the State’, and the survivor had no attorney present to help her (unlike the abusive husband.)

Many call a woman who stays with an abusive husband ‘spineless’ and a ‘doormat’. That’s because those accusers have no idea how terrified someone can get when threatened verbally or physically. They are not ‘accepting’ that treatment. They are beaten down into no longer resisting it.

The doubly victimized woman now has a conviction on her record that will stand in the way of getting decent employment and supporting herself and her 1 year old. She will probably never have the courage to call the police for help again, and for sure other women in this county will think about this case if they face an attack, and will also not try to call the police.

You may think my reaction is extreme. It’s not. This ‘blame the victim’ philosophy grows from the idea that a person who has a crime committed against them can always prevent it.

In what I’ve seen of Bernice in the past, she allowed Derek to use her locker to store his ‘clothes’ (actually his drugs) not because she was being polite, but because she had a crush on him and thought he cared about her. But when she figured it out, she wasn’t going along with the locker storage ‘just to be polite’.

She was lucky enough to have a friend (Luann) who explained what was really happening to the police, so she didn’t get into trouble. But she didn’t ‘deserve’ to have legal problems because she inadvertently let Derek store drugs in her locker, and she wouldn’t ‘deserve’ bad treatment from Piro now.

I’m wondering if Piro might be a war veteran which could explain his behavior, sense of being adrift and tentative nature. Veterans benefits include paid college tuition and these persons tend to be older than the typical undergraduate. Zane was (also) a disabled war vet and was planning to go to veterinary college (I think).

The squatter with the scarf moves in, and announces that he is going to watch a movie in Bernice’s dorm room. Come on, Bernice, where’s your dignity, your pride? The guy’s a jerk, kick his butt out and report him. Why do both guys and girls allow themselves to cater to such self centered creeps? Tiffany uses this technique to get guys to help her move furniture. Guys lure in girls and get them to pay for their lunch or drive them somewhere. Was it P.T. Barnum who said, “A sucker is born every minute.”?

“some would say Wings wasn’t so much a band as a phase for PM.”^Evidence supporting this is the fact that the then Mrs. McCartney and Denny Laine (Ex Moody Blues) were the only constants in the group. Also supporting this were McCartney I and McCartney II, the two albums that bookended the Wings discography. – Evidence against this are the titles of the aforementioned solo albums (along with Ram), and that he was working on PM II during the tour for Back To The Egg, and the fact that once McCartney got busted in Japan, it was then that things unraveled (on permanent hiatus), until later (with occasional reunion tours).. – Neutral evidence would be the various titles of albums in the discography, both as Wings and PM and Wings..
