I have thought all along Pru would turn out to be closer to #1 than #2. I don’t think Greg can put this off any longer. I think tomorrow we’re going to find out! (I certainly hope so, anyway.)

Meanwhile, it looks like we’ll be seeing every variant on the strip’s reader’s speculations drawn out through the rest of the week leading to (I still predict) a silhouette on Saturday. “Oh. YOU’re Pru!”

Oh, good lord, how much faux suspense do Greg and Karen think we need, anyway?

The first visualization of Pru looks like a feminization of Gunther.

Somebody suggested that Pru should look basically like Luann — maybe the same features, but a brunette, or something like that. That way, if Luann has to compete with her, the competition will not be based on looks.

Prudence will look like panel 2 but she’ll be gay,and she’ll be attracted to Luann and Quill will not be happy.

pru ends up being one of the senioritas that met Gunther?

Luann has known about Prudence ever since the end of the summer, but she has never asked Quill what she’s like or seen her photo. It’s a pretty pathetic sort of relationship that these two characters have. If it collapses, Prudence won’t be the reason. Instead, a total absence of meaningful communication will be.

I don’t care who girl #2 is, bring her in, Tiff would love the competition. Toni would also like this gal. She has hair growing down to her butt level, just like our favorite firefighter.

‘Dear Prudence’ was a Beatles song written c1968 for Paul’s dog. For me, Brad is never gonna be worthy of Toni, and Luann is a similarly bad fit for Quill… unless their marriage is meant to be full of him cheating, for drama. Toni and Quill are A’s, Luann and her friends are Cs or worse. I wish Greg would find some faces that are Bs to fill in.

The suspense is killing me!

And she’ll help Toni with some brilliant ideas for that wedding, because oh, yeah… Pru will be happily married too. That’ll just take longer to spit out, is all.

There is no doubt the Evans have created some suspense. The difficulty is to avoid a letdown with the “reveal”.

Since I used to pal around with a lot of musicians, I’ve heard all the theories about how musicians create. Most of the guys who have played Lennon-McCartney songs figure that the guys started with melodies or chords that the could ‘hear in their heads’, and words came much later. Since neither Paul nor John had classical music training, they never learned to write music notation.

The Dear Prudence song was written when the Beatles were in India, learning transcendental meditation. Prudence Farrow was there at the same time, and after each session, she retreated to her room. Apparently the Beatles were concerned that she was depressed for some reason, and that was the inspiration for the song.

Pru won’t be like either one of these women. What are the other options? We may see her by Saturday, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

I wonder if she is elderly or disabled…

We will never actually see Pru, just a lingering voice balloon and Luann’s astonished expression.

The suspense is not killing me, maybe we can drag this out until next week.

Pru can be ugly or pretty, tall or short, curvy or bony. What counts is her personality and her theatrical ability. Right, Lu? Right, Qu?

Remember Prudence from ‘Four Weddings & a Funeral’? Left at the altar.

Well, well, well … what have we here?

Pru’s going to be LuAnn’s mother’s age and the angst is going to be between her mom and dad……….

This “gag” (reflex?), like the “Bernice’s roommate is… who???” story arc, has been dragged out long past the point where the resolution will even be interesting any more. The only thing that is interesting about it now is that no one seems to have cared enough just to ask Quill a couple of simple questions about who this person is that’s coming to live under their roof. This story arc now serves only to demonstrate that everyone in the DeGroot family is an idiot.

It’s just like Luann to think of Prudence’s appearance in extremes—either very short, old, and homely or tall, voluptuous, and beautiful. But then again, I’d have to concede with the others here about how Luann doesn’t have enough info about Prudence to know her or what she really looks like—because she and Quill don’t communicate deeply.

Pru will turn out to be Luanns body double

Luann’s imagination deals in the extreme. I continue to think that Prudence will be an ordinary down to earth girl who just happens to be into theater. Luann will be disarmed but she’ll stay jealous as Pru and Quill will work together in producing the show. Maybe her name gives us some clues as to what she’ll be like as a person.

The only way of making this too-long (and completely illogical) plot interesting now would be for there to be a truly unexpected twist, such as Prudence turns out to be Mr. Gray’s ex-wife.

I think the second version looks more like Daisy Mayham (Lil Abner) than Jessica Rabbit. One thing Luan hasn’t seemed to consider yet is that Pru may be an older student returning to school after her kids move out of the house.

Maybe she’s a nun?

I’m going to go with: Pru turns out to be Gay.

The suggestion that Pru will be attractive but married seems to be the most logical outcome.

This is starting to go as slow as an old soap opera. Stop dragging it out.

Well, I don’t want to spoil anything either, but the "lead up is “well traveled” and full of artistic and literary license! ( I know stuff like that drives some people crazy…)
