“♬Signs, signs, everywhere, there’s signs…♪”— And of all the ones being hung up around the building, the most telling are the ones coming from Quill… and in Nancy’s reaction…

Nancy is wondering if there is something behind Quill’s comment.

Looks like Pru won Luann over? So Pru is not a phony? I haven’t digested this yet…

Oopsie, did Quill let the cat out of the bag?
gazperson about 9 years ago
I used to call use gazman as my chat nickname, before I discovered it was taken on many websites — and it had become a minor fashion brand. And then there is the whole politically incorrect thing about being gender specific! ;) I was 15, and living in Sydney, when Mavis Bramston ran its first episode, and it was love at first sight. Not so much for my parents, with whom I had to whinge and cajole sometimes to get it on. (Most households had not heard of the concept of the second television in those days!) I am still in Australia, and, weirdly, was living very close to Greg when he was living in Adelaide in 1974 — and with relatives at the school he was teaching at, but our paths never crossed. Nevertheless, the Mavis Bramston image would still have been around, and I can’t help wondering whether he ever saw it, and has been influenced by it so many years later!

Chillax, Nancy. Quill is not cheating on Luann. He’s just stating the honest truth. Pru charms them all, even him, and you, and Frank, and most of all Luann!

I remember identical scenario from years ago like over 20 where Luan’s then crush Aaron Hill brought a girl from Hawaii & she was very sweet & took Luan by surprise and she couldn’t help liking her?
Alan Smithee about 9 years ago
No, I’m not willing to see anything ominous about Quill’s comment. Not yet anyway. Some people are just very likable. Look at Luann’s expression in the first two panels. I think Prudence’s presence is a catalyst for something but I don’t think it’s to brake up L&Q. Sure, the Evans could prove me wrong but shrugs

Good morning! I’m putting this post on the sites I used to frequent. I wanted you to know that I’m among the living, and well (considering that I’m eighty). See, I was up in Wisconsin in October and early November, and got so busy trying to achieve a semblance of order and cleanliness, that I didn’t feel I had time to contribute comix comments. Soon I lost my addiction to commenting, and gained a new addiction to the extra one- to two-and-a-half hours I’d gained daily. I’ve missed everyone, but the new addiction chugs on. Meant to inform you before, but it was always too late in the day. Keep calm and carry on the tradition!

Since Mr. Evans has moved the Luann gang to college, lots more lovely characters appear.
Drama and paranoid foreshadowing aside, I’m giving Pru the benefit of the doubt.
A little flakey? Many arts-types are.
But likeable?
Indeed. Unless, of course, dear author has other plans.

If the cold weather persists into next week I’m going to make venison chilie with the last pack of deer meat I have. Hopefully my son will give me some from is two deer he’s taken this year, One with bow & arrow, one with rifle. This weekend is the end of rifle season but I believe his wife has a permit to fill yet & she dosen’t eat venison much. Have a grand weekend!

Danger! Danger! Luann Robinson.

Another double for Prudence is King Charles II of England (1661-1685). The hair and nose are identical. (Also the hat) And her upper lip looks like his mustache.
dre7861 about 9 years ago
I think this all comes down to the fact that the English language uses the word “Love” for many, many roles. One can love one’s spouse or significant other, one can love one’s Mother or Father, one can love one’s best friend, one can love a particular movie, one can love one’s pet, one can love a particular food, one can love their car or a certain item of clothing, one can love a particular time of year, one can love how someone has decorated their home, one can love going for a run or walk, one can love a good book, etc. But clearly we are not loving all these instances and more in the same way.
mirabai305 about 9 years ago
I’m not understanding how she’s drawn. Is she an adult, as in their parents’ age and that’s why Luann is comfortable now or more age appropriate to them and therefore still legitimately a threat to Luann?
gunnrunner about 9 years ago
you all missed the point, Pru, is pushy, likes to be in control, and what home will she be staying???? 3 women under one roof not a good thing.

tip to Luann – you can’t count on people like Pru, they’re always on to the “next thing”
MotherOfMoses about 9 years ago
That’s why she’s my avatar, I still read the reruns on the web, if I could live in a comic strip, it would be Tumbleweeds.

Told you so. I just hope Quill has the decency to break up with Luann rather than sneak around and betray her with that Prudence chick.

Has anyone commented on the chain around Pru’s neck?
Why is the end of it tucked under her dress?
Could it be a twin to the charm Luann wears? Hmmmmm…
ACTIVIST1234 about 9 years ago
Yeah, Qu may fall for Pru. But will she fall back? That time passed a week or two ago. Now she’s headed for Zebo.

If she is as old as she appears….maybe Mom should be worried about Dad falling in love with her.

Prediction: Lu will be Pru’s “Best Friend in the World” as long as Lu has something to teach her about stage design. When Pru needs to know about costuming, she’ll find a different “Best Friend in the World.”*Climbers have fleeting relationships. Use and dispose.

“Wait. Did I say that out loud? To the mother?” I still don’t know how old Prudence is…
RSH about 9 years ago
I’m guessing that going forward this arc will be about Quill’s inner conflicts and his integrity as a human being. I think there was something physical between Pru and Quill in NY…(judging from that conversation Luann overheard) but how far it went is not known. Luann stopped Quill from trying to have sex w/ her in an earlier summer arc. Those urges could have been easily satisfied while in NY. I I think Pru will play a role in showing Quill that he has something special in Luann. But maybe next week will be a return to another arc.

Quill is going to end up choosing Pru and New York…poor Luann
doverdan about 9 years ago
Pru is just right for Zebo.
locake about 9 years ago
I wonder if Pru was this friendly with Quill when they first met? A lot of men would take all the touching to mean she wanted a physical relationship, when she was just being friendly. Maybe Quill has romantic feelings for Pru, but she doesn’t feel the same way about him.

Pru’s hat reminds me of something that Hedda Hopper would wear.

Is it just me, or does Luann’s mom look younger than Pru?

I’d have to take Quill’s comment to mean that it would be tempting to start dating Pru, but his feelings for Luann outweigh the temptation.

I so smell a set-up here.
gazperson about 9 years ago
Oh, that Gazprom! I thought you were trying to send me to a school dance in drag…
Personally, I think Quill “loves” Pru in the same way as I used to love Mavis Bramston. It really doesn’t have anything to do with sex, but we will no doubt see in the next week or two. (I bet Greg teases us by moving away from this storyline next week!)
JayBluE about 9 years ago
True, but I think Nancy wouldn’t react, unless she knew for sure something didn’t sound right. I think Greg was trying to make it clear that her “mom radar” was working, and didn’t need recalibrating… even without script cues in Quill’s speech…
